Old Disney Credit Card

Hello all!

I just finished fishing through my old wallet and stumbled upon my old Disney credit card, the one before the Visa. I called and the account is still open. Before I close it, is there any advantages to this credit card? My wife and I already have the Disney Visa, so is there any point to holding on to this one? Any perks?

I have one of those too but haven't used it in at least 4 years, LOL. Anyhow, as far as I know there are no rewards or anything associated with it so I would go ahead and close it. If there are any advantages they will surely tell you what they are when you call to close.

There are no rewards or benefits with that card (unless you're using to help build a credit rating). When I called to cancel mine after we got the visa, they asked why (I think they have to) and when I said I had the visa the guy was like ok, cool. He sounded relieved, almost. I've heard in the past that these cards will eventually be phased out, so I guess I was just one less to worry about.

I keep mine just because it's so pretty...plus my understanding is it looks better on my credit report since I've had this one open for quiet a while. Every once in a blue moon, I use it for DisneyDeals purchase just so I'll be sure to pay it off immediately!!

Actually...now that I think about it...it may be safer for me to travel to Disney and use The Disney Credit Card as opposed to the Disney VISA which if lost/stolen can be used fraudulently anywhere by a wouldbe thief. Hmmm...something to think about.

Oh...and did I mention...it's so pretty?!!!

I also have an old Disney CC and would like to cancel it (to get it off my credit report). Anyone have the phone number or an address for this card? It's been so long since I've used it that I can't find any paperwork listing this information.

I just called the number on the back of the card and told them what I wanted to do. Next time I checked my credit report, it showed up closed, just like I asked.

So did there used to be any rewards? What was the allure of having this card?

What is the old credit card? Was it also by Bank One/Chase or someone else?

The old card was more like a department store type card. You could use it at the theme parks and the Disney Store and the Disney Store online. One advantage when we booked our first trip in 1999 was that they only took American Express and the Disney card for deposits over the phone. It came in handy then because we didn't have an amex yet.

I use mine all the time. I use it to make payments on my resort that way I can pay it off every month.

It is pretty. Mine has the 100 years of magic theme on it.
