Old Dance Costumes

What do you do with your girl's dance costumes???? DD17 took dance for 12 years and half her closest is full of all the dance costumes. She wants to keep a couple of them for sentimental reasons and get rid of the rest. I'm not sure what to do with them. Goodwill????:confused3 I've never sold anything on ebay or Craigslist.

I would ask the studio if they accept old costumes so that girl's can wear them for solos. Or if you want to make money I would hold onto them especially if they are some sort of character and sell them as Halloween costumes in the fall.

You could donate them to a shelter for women and their children for the kids to use as "dress up" costumes. Often there isn't much for these children to play with and the costumes would be very appreciated. (they often leave home with just the clothes on their backs)

I used to give them to a younger child I know and she used them as dress up clothes for playing (you might be able to find a preschool that would love them). Lately I've been donating them to Goodwill in August/Sept. for Halloween Costumes.

I have a few that my DD wanted me to keep (her first costume and first shoes, plus a few others).

I either donate them to Goodwill late in the summer for their Halloween costumes or I have put them in a consignment store for children that accepts Halloween costumes. Everyone I have put on consignment sold.

At the studio my daughter dances at, our graduating seniors are given a quilt made up of pieces from their old costumes. They are presented at the end of the season's dance recital, after they have done the last dance, but before the slide show, I think. Or the other way around - I'm always teary-eyed at that point, and I'll be awful this year, as it is my own daughter's last year! I can't believe it has been 12 years!

I kept them, because I'm way too sentimental. But I forgot about them until now! I have a granddaughter (just a baby now) who will love playing dress up with them someday!

I wish I were your neighbor and could raid your stash for my daughter's talent show costume. She's doing a jazz sort of routine and is going to be wearing just a sparkly tee and some capris. I had looked online for something affordable but wasn't willing to spend more than $25 or so.

I would find a dance studio in an economically depressed area and donate them to the studio.

Give some kids who want to dance but can't afford the costumes the chance to dance with a nice costume.

OH MY!! How would I find someone who could do this?? My dd 18 is a senior and we still have all her old costumes. That would be such a great present for her!! And about how much would it cost??

I keep them for a couple of years, they take up space in the closets, get on my nerves and end up throwing them out, to be honest. We donate lots of stuff, but I've never seen things like that at any of the normal places we donate.
