Hi,
Did great today at a garage sale and got alot of kids books that are a bit old. Anyone have any ideas to freshen them up ?? TIA

Oh, I love the smell of old books!

I think it's a musty smell, so you might want to air them out in the sunshine. Maybe take a damp cloth to the covers?

Or just enjoy that old book smell! :lovestruc

I agree, outside in the sun, and maybe some lysol sprayed very lightly.

I really hate that smell.:crazy2:

De-Stinkify Your Book
Despite your best efforts, your book smells musty or mildewed, or just old. There's an easy solution... You will need two plastic containers--one that will fit inside the other one. Pour some kitty litter in the bottom of the larger container. Place your book into the smaller container (without the lid), then put the small plastic container into the larger container. Place the lid on the larger plastic container. You can leave the book in this book de-stinkifier for a month--to remove the odor (and any moisture) from the book.

wow--thanks i'll definately give the kitty litter trick a try. luckily they are all small children's books, so they are thin enough to fit in some small plastic boxes!! :)
