GJW you own 51 in 8600 I owned in 8600 on 2nd floor week 51. How cool is that.
I believe the unit is 86852. It would be a nicer view of the fireworks if buildings 87700, 87800, & 87900 weren't in the way. I can remember the spiel about Disney next door and that some units can see fireworks. I was told that more untts were be built but the answer were a bit evasive about where they were going to be bullt and when. I was also told that the Wilson children ideas for the resort were different than their dads and that they felt that the value of the resort was under-valued when compared to other resorts. Oh well! My unit during week 50 is 3804 in the North Village. If I go this year during week 50, it will be the first time that I actually used my week. I'm thinking of trading it for Halloween week, but still going during week 51.

Maybe I see you during your stay. Looking at the map, some of the units in the North Village are actually closer to the new River Island that my unit in the East Village.

It's funny. But most OL owner's don't stay in their own unit during the week that they actually own. The main thing is to own at OL. You then don't have to worry about the 1 in 3 rule, and you are always given priority status when exchanging back in. We own multiple tennis villa weeks. But have never stayed in our unit during our owned week. We usually either stay in a tennis villa or the North Village. And we travel back to OL for multiple fall and spring trips. However...our one exception is that we are heading back for a week in early July this year. Can anyone say "humidity"!

Barb from Texas here.. :wave2: .we've owned at OLCC since about 1986...we have weeks 24 and 25 in 2280 (two bedroom) and 43 and 44 in 5656 (three bedroom). I'm curious to know...was the "up-grade" money they wanted to charge you an extra fee on top on what they wanted??
Is anyone else bothered by the fact that the Maintenance fees are all due at the same time? That hits us pretty hard every January...we would really like it to have become due on our anniversary date of the purchase. It would be easy to handle that way. I love OL and haven't ever thought about going anywhere else...we did purchase an "extra" vacation from RCI a year or two ago...and that was at Summer Bay. It was similar to OL...but creature of habit that I am...I still preferred OL.
Right now...I'm trying to talk DH into a trip in Dec. to see Disney at Christmas...I never have.....anyone have any ideas how I can convince him??? Have a great day!!! Barb

Barb;
It's kind of funny because the first time I went to Orlando, I hated it. I went in '95. It was hot - in the upper 90s/lower 100s - and when I entered the Magic Kingdom, I felt like I entered a shopping center. The lines for the rides were long. I had a miserable time. A friend suggested I try it again, so I went a year later at Xmas time. I have been going every year since. Your husband really ought to see Disney, Universal, and SeaWorld at Xmas time, especially Disney. It was on one of my Xmas trips that I toured OLCC and bought a unit (hence week 50).

The dues hit me pretty hard because I get them just as I'm going on vacation. I have a couple other timeshares as well. Vacation Village at Parkway gets me into the RCI Points system but it is an even year membership so I get billed every other year. Then there is DVC which I get billed monthly. I would prefer that OLCC would bill monthly as it makes planning so much easier.

I try to stay at some of the other resorts in Orlando. OLCC is far and away my favorite. I have stayed at Sheraton's Vistana Resort (very limited parking in my view but otherwise nice), Celebration, Vacation Village at Parkway, Florida Vacation Villas, and a few others. I have also stayed onsite at Disney property. My worst vacation, July 1995, occurred while I was staying onsite. I have yet to stay at a DVC site but I have toured the units. Staying at the other resorts makes me appreciate OLCC much more.

It's nice to meet you Barb...and the rest of OL owners. :D
I agree...OL really spoils you in regards to staying in other timeshares. But I try not to hold that against those properties.
