Just am curious about OKW...we managed to squeeze in 6days/5 nights at WDW using our points 6/1 to 6/6 at OKW  and would appreciate any info ya'll could share.

Ds who will be 13 is interested in hanging out at the pool...which one?

Curious about the refillable mugs...only one place to get them refilled?

BTW, we are in a studio...so any thoughts there?

That is all I can think of for now, but I'm sure I will ask more later as they pop into my feeble brain...

Thanks!

There is only 1 spot to refill mugs...behind the HH near the feature pool. feature pool fo course has the nice new slide. Depends on where your room is to decide if it is worth the walk or bus ride to use it. The other pools are nice, just no snack bar/slide!
We were right across from HH this last trip so it was great being able to walk to the feature pool.
As far as the room goes it is pretty decent size, but we are usually in a 1 or 2 bedroom for use of the oversize jacuzzi, so I can't say much about the studio. The 1 BR is awesome though...biggest in DVC! and did I mention the oversize Jacuzzi? :love2:

The Turtle Pond pool area has a snack bar also.
You might want a 2nd floor studio since the first floor can have vegetatian that blocks the view.

Hi, we just returned Sunday from a studio in OKW!! The studio is pretty spacious and is laid out differently than the rest of the DVC studios. It is a really nice resort, quiet and very pretty. I would try to get a room by the Hospitality House for your 13yo. It is near the main pool and it seems to be where most of the "action is". This is where the Hank's rental is (shuffleboard, tennis, movies, etc. ) and the video arcade room (which I believe the Turtle Pond Pool area also has) and the watercraft rentals as well as the boat to Downtown Disney. When we were there they had a D.J. on Sunday with kareoke and music. Also, if it fits your needs, I would recommend a non-handicapped room. We had issues with the floor soaked all around the sink/mirror area (there is no tub, just a tile floor) and I ended up having to sop up all the water with the used towels. We did switch rooms (pretty painlessly due to a wonderful staff at OKW)after the first night. The mugs are also refilled by the main pool at Good's Foods to Go and I believe also at the Turtle Shack (at the Turtle Pond Pool). If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask! You will have a GREAT time! :flower:

Refillable mugs were never very popular at OKW because they never made much sense. Everyone has a unit near a pool so it is just as easy to walk to your unit to get a soda then to go to the snack area to refill a mug. There is no food court so you can't use them to eat, thus not much sense.

Thanks! I suspected the distance to the drink place would be a distance if the studio isn't near the Hospitality House...wasn't sure since this will be our very first DVC trip. I am 99% certain that I will use wegoshop to get some groceries brought in for us...mostly breakfast, snacks and drinks. I really don't like the taste of the water in WDW, so bottled water is a must.

This trip is all about rest and spending time together for my family of 3...2005 has been rough with some extended family members. When we booked it we didn't even plan to go into the parks...none. Then DH found out it is still Star Wars weekends and decided at least MGM...then when looking at the overall cost of admissions (DVC PAP v. MYWPremium)...looks like we will go ahead with the AP at least. DH and Ds are late night people and I've never allowed them to sleep in on any previous trips to WDW...always gotta get out there and get the money's worth, but with our DVC now, I just don't feel compelled to go full speed...I know that I will be back and quite soon this year.

So, enough said...except for a couple questions...

Any info about the busses? And what is up with that boat to DD?? Is is good?

OH!!! Has anyone used walkie talkies at OKW? Or even streched the limit...OKW to DD? I guess I need to check the mile range on ours...DH does enjoy the Adveturer's Club and would love to go, but Ds has not interest...was running through my head the what if's about allowing Ds to stay at OKW if we went to DD....cell phones would be better for that I guess...

Ah, well, thanks again!!

Busses are fine to all parks from OKW; it may take a few minutes, but they run about every 20 minutes or so. Boat to DD is almost an attraction in itself. I believe it runs hourly beginning @ 9:30 AM; then every 1/2 hour from 4:30 PM to 11:30 PM (a little fuzzy on times). It now stops @ Saratoga Springs to pick those folks up; then on to DD.
