We're going down Dec. 14th for a week, me, DS, DD, and my mother. We have reservations at Summerfield Suites LBV right now, but we'd rather stay in Disney, in a 1 bedroom unit in OKW. Big price difference though, about $80 a night more at OKW, even with an AP discount. So anybody out there stay at either or both places and any thoughts on whether the price difference is worth it? Thanks!

We just got back from OKW. We had 4 adults in a studio room. The best thing for me staying here (besides the usual on-site perks) is the washer and dryer. I'm not sure if the other place you are looking at has a washer and dryer available at no cost. That saved us a ton of money - especially after getting soaked one day. I would stay there again.

You may want to check out the DVC board here. They have tons of great info on OKW. They helped me a lot before our trip!

Have not stayed at Summerfield Suites, but absolutely LOVE Old Key West. I could live there. It's so peaceful and homey, yet right in the heart of it all. The condos are great. While I can't compare the 2, I'll be happy to answer any questions. Most likely, if it was me and I could afford it, I would pay the difference.

Have never actually stayed at Summerfield Suites, but did a walk thru there once when considering for a future stay. We felt like it was cheaply made - could hear noise from the roadway, heaven knows what we would hear with a neighbor in the next room. Also, rooms were MUCH smaller.

I would check the DVC boards and see if any one is renting points for the time your going. I might save you some money!

Hi Chell:

Just a couple of questions about the studio room that you stayed in.
Is the studio room a little larger than a moderate room, and did it seem fresh and not outdated. Did you get one of those small bar fridges or the next size up in the studio, ? Thanks,

Deb.

The biggest rooms on park... Other than the suites are at OKW. The Studio is large and can hold 4 adults with out a problem. The one bedroom is fantastic. We just spent a week there and had a blast. Tons of room and a kitchen helped with the food expense...

I would try and see if you could buy a few points for your time there on the DVC board.

Yes, the room is larger than a moderate. Last May we were at POR and there was a noticeable size difference. We were in building 62, which is one of the newer buildings, and it did seem fresh. The fridge was the next size up. It even had a small freezer section. The fridge had plenty of room for us.

Bananas growing right outside of our room!

Let me know if you have any more questions!

Thanks for all the great advice! I'm going to check into renting points through the DVC forum, that seems to be the most economical way to go.
