Looking for your opinions. Pros and Cons on OKW 3-bed GV. Best location for 3 children under 4 years. They love water. Thanks :grouphug: :grouphug: :bounce: :bounce:

OKW has a great kiddie sand area at the main pool, and the pool slide is spectacular! Also, each of the quiet pools has a playground area as well. The HH has lots of kids activities in the community room too.

It occured to me that maybe what you were asking was the locations for the GVs! GVs are in buildings 15, 16, 19, 22, 25, 29, 43, 48, 49, 51, 53, and 63.

I don't remember the room number, :guilty: but we stayed at a GV on Peninsular Road one time that was great. The window above the kitchen sink overlooked Trumbo Canal and the walk to the bus stop was relatively short. It would be a pretty short walk to the main pool. I believe it was building 28.

We just got back from a stay at OKW in GV 1522. The location was midway between the Hospitality House and the Miller Road and Peninsular Road bus stops. The main pool was a short walk away. It couldn't have been better.

The only other GV we have stayed at was the handicap accessible one in building 48 (or was it 49?). Very close to one bus stop and to one of the outlying pools. No complaints there either (although the short walk to the main pool from 1522 was nice).

There are no cons when it comes to staying in a DVC GV. It is DVC luxury to the highest. You are going to love it.
As for the building location, we would pick close to the HH, because it will be close to the main pool. If your kids love water, they will love OKW's main pool. The slide there is perfect for little kids. It is not as intimindating as the slides at BCV or BWV. VWL, also has a good slide at the main pool for younger kids. The sand play area close by OKW's main pool is also great for the little guys.
We were at WDW in June and friends of ours were staying at OKW the same time (we were staying at SSR). They have a DD 4yo and she LOVED the slide at OKW's main pool. She pretended the castle was her "princess castle". She also loved the sand/play area. One day they came over to SSR to use our pool and although she loved the zero depth entry and the water spray area, the pool slide was a little too much for her and the little slide was much too babyish for her. She greatly perferred the pool at OKW. The adults, on the other hand, preferred the pool at SSR ,but greatly preferred the pool bar at OKW. Can't beat the Gurgling Suitcase, especially when Jimmy Buffet is playing in the background.

The "con" for the GV is getting one. It is safest to call 11 months out day by day.

We also stayed in Building 15, and I agree that it was a great location. Close enough to the HH to be very convenient for swimming there or for getting food from Good's to Go and bringing it back to eat in your villa. Yet, it was far enough away to be very quiet.

Diane, I really like that map, now that I've stayed in OKW again, the map makes more sense to me.

I hate to be the bad person but i would not recommend the GV if you have 3 kids under 4. The master bedroom is on the first floor and the other 2 bedrooms are upstairs. I know I would not want my young kids upstairs all night without me there. I think you would be better off with a 2 bedroom so you are all near each other. the GV's at OKW are great but I don't think they are good if you are the only grown ups and will probably be staying in the master bedroom downstairs. :sad2: :scared:

Excellent things to consider, if the traveling party is 2 adults and 3 little kids. Because they are getting a GV, I am just assuming there are more than 2 adults in the traveling party. If not, I agree, that a 2 br will be better suited for their family. A OKW 2 br will give them tons of room, plus, it will be less points!!!

Stayed in a GV in Building 49 last November and, my, oh, my, was it fabulous!!! I took five girlfriends for my 50th b'day and it was just perfect! GOTTA love the four bathrooms!!!!! ENJOY!!!!

Our last GV stay was also in building 15, and I agree it is a GREAT location! You also have a choice of going to Miller's Road OR HH for the bus. A couple of times we were leaving the villa when we saw the bus we wanted go past. We knew we couldn't get to MR in time, but we easily made it to HH before the bus.

Loved the one in 15 and also had the one in 19. I had requested NS and at check in the CM told me they had been able to meet my request to be near a pool but it was a smoking villa. She said the housekeeping manager assured her it had been desmoked. It was the cleanest unit we have ever had and while there was a slight odor at first it quickly went away once we left windows open and ceiling fans going for awhile. I think the odor was more the cleaning stuff than the smoking residue. The balcony was overlooking the small quiet pool for that area so those in the room could talk to those at the pool. It would not be my first choice but it wasn't bad and we were also able to get into it at 8am which was an added plus since some of us were moving from AKL and some coming in from Tampa during Christmas week. Any GV at OKW is okay with me and I think you will be fine no matter which one you get.
