I have already made my reservation for next year for a one bedroom. My question is where would be the best place on OKW to request to stay? This is my first time, so I am not farmilar with the layout.

Thanks

It all depends on your preferences! (And by the way - We just Love OKW!!) If you want to be close to the lodge and main pool, you can request that area (we had a studio once near there -- it made the bus trip convenient, and dining at Olivia's was a snap...My kids liked the lodge activities, too.)

Most of the time, despite any requests, we invariably ended up in Turtle POnd (3 trips spent there, each time a 2 br). Nice thing about it was that we still had a pool right there and playground and hot tub, and the bus stations weren't too far away. Personally, it's hard to find a "bad" place in OKW, to me, because the buses loop all over the place so you're always near transportation. HOWEVER -- I can't recall if they are still renovating parts of OKW. When we stayed there Jan 01, the buildg next to ours was getting a "facelift" of paint and such. If you can find out if any such work is going on, look at the OKW map and then pick a spot away from it! (haha) Also check to see if any pools are closed or planned for work -- bummer to be near a poll you can't use (if pools are of interest to you...)

One of our favorite spots has been South Pointe area. It has a nice quiet pool and most villas have a beautiful view of the waterway to Downtown Disney. I believe like buildings 45 and 46.

Pennisular Road area is great if you rely on the buses solely. It is the first bus stop in the bus route in the resort, so if you miss your bus you want, you still have time to walk to the Hospitality House (just a few short minutes), and catch that same bus there before it heads out to the parks.

We usually take what they give us without specific requests except for first floor (we would rather listen to pitter patter of little footy steps above us rather than lugging a stroller and three moany groany tired kiddos up flights of stairs!), and we really have liked all the areas we have been given. I think I least like the woodsy views; I like it more open when sitting on the porch!

I too don't think there is a really bad area at OKW. We like South Point as well. You would request buildings 52,53,54-55 to be on the side the buses don't turn around in. These are very close to the quiet pool and the walkway to DTD is at the end of the cul-de-sac. These are farthest from the HH, which is why we like it.:D Also, because South point is the second stop for the bus, it seems like you get "home" fast at the enc of the day.

We like the location and view from the Miller's Road villas, but they don't have a second door into the bathroom from the laundry, so if you have guests in the living room, it is not convenient.

We were in Building 31 last week. Very nice location in terms of the view and it was also not too far from a bus stop. This was the first time I have stayed in this building. The only issue I had was this.. The parking lot for this building and the one next to it, building 30, was full 2 nights when we got back to the room late. I had to park in front of another group of buildings down the street a little bit. Nothing too bad and the walk was a nice one. This was the first time in 10 years though that I didn't get a parking spot in front of the building.. Like I said the walk wasn't far, but we had a lot of unloading so I just pulled up to the sidewalk in front of the building, unloaded the car and then parked and walked back..

We just got back from OKW last week, too, and stayed in building 23, right over the bridge. It was wonderful! If you have a stroller and other baby junk, you might want to stay in the new buildings, which have elevators, and are near the Hospitality House. If you use your balcony alot--we do--then you may want to stay away from buildings 11-14, which were very overgrown when we were there. Also, they were scraping, and painting some of the buildings along the golf course ( the 40's, I think). This would only be a problem if you have kids sleeping there during the day, or you relax on your balcony then, since the painters work till about 5, and they were using an electric sander, which was quite noisy. We had a lovely time, even with the usual rainshowers:p

We have always requested Turtle Pond and I believe it is bldg 44 which is right on the corner. You have a quiet pool, picnic area with little barbeques and a great snack bar that has the best frozen Pina Coladas. from that building you can see the bus stop from the back deck and the ducks love to visit.
