We just booked OKW Studio w/AP discount and DDP for April - upgraded from POR!

We've never stayed at OKW before - what should I request for a room location? We'd like to be close to the main pool and have a recently renovated room if that is possible.

Is there anything else we should request?

Thanks!

What we have requested is a hospitality house location. Close to the main pool and the check-in center. You will have to make a specific request and they will change your reservation to specifically book for that location.

If you look at the resort map, we were in building 62,63 or 64. I can't remember exactly which one but it was a GREAT LOCATION!! It was very close to the pool and the hospitality house too. Plus, the one we were in had an elevator as well. I would request one of those.....:thumbsup2

Those locations are both Hospitality House which are now a specific request.
Close to Hospitality House is one of the most requested and the 3 buildings with elevators are also one of the most requested.

Even though OKW is large, most of the buildings are less than a 10 minute walk to the Hospitality House and main pool. There is another nice pool at Turtle Pond (not a slide, but has a play area, shuffleboard and an arcade).
There are also 2 other quiet pools. Here's a link to the OKW map and also a link to the OKW page on the DIS site.

Most of the buildings at OKW do not have elevators. If that will be a problem, request a ground floor.

Our last stay was in building 13, ground floor in a 2BR. An absolutely wonderful location.

:thumbsup2

I have read that HH booking catergory pertains to buildings 11-14 and 23-26 only...
although 62-64 are very close, it doesnt appear they are apart of HH ?! I could be wrong....this is just what I read...:)

62, 63 and 64 are the "elevator" buildings at OKW. They are not part of the HH category. Apparently, all other buildings were constructed before the ADA was law, therefore they dont have elevators.

ASIDE:

Because of a bad accident, my wife has one leg shorter than the other--LONG story!

Because of this, she doesn't do stairs well, so we requested an "elevator" building for our last stay. Imagine our surprise when we were given a first floor villa in building 64!!!

Oh well!
