I read somewhere that there is a trail or path at OKW. Anyone happen to know where it goes, or how long it is? TIA!

You might also be able to connect up with DTD and the surrounding resorts. I've never been to OKW to know specifics, but you might try looking at Google Earth or posting in a runners' forum. There is a lot more variety out there than the official posted trails!

Perfect! And yeah, I'll do a little more research. I was wondering if there is a connection to DTD. I'll check that out. Thanks guys!

Yes, there is. It's a wide black topped path that is about 1 mile and takes you to the West Side part of Downtown Disney (DTD) near the Blue Club.
The path to DTD from OKW is in the back of the resort. The start of the path is near buildings 55 & 54 - it's the aqua colored line in that location on the map.
Go past the playground area and you will find it.
It runs along the canal and is not lit at night, so if you walk there and will be coming back after dark, use the boat or bus to get back to OKW.

The path from OKW to DTD is not lit, so you can't run early in the morning before sunrise or after sunset.

When I talked with a CM at WL, he thought I was a bit crazy but said it was not against any rules to exercise on unlit paths at night or to use them to travel from one place to the other. There is a path from the WL to FW that is unlit which prompted my question.

Due to my work schedule, I only go out after dark or before sunrise and I only take a light to make myself more visible to traffic. Night really isn't that dark, especially in areas without trees. I also wear reflective clothing to be seen and so that people know that I am out exercising and not robbing houses. I normally follow the same guidelines while at WDW just so I don't creep out other tourists and security.

I've been known to do laps around Hourglass Lake at 2AM before and have never been bothered by security. They probably have figured out that there are people like me who have a genetic flaw that requires them to run daily even on vacation. I like to get in at least a few miles to relax every day and the only time I can get away from my family is in the late night or early morning when the sun hasn't come out yet.

People do go out on the OKW path when it is dark. But the problem is the path. It isn't a nice regular path like from WL to FW. If you trip and fall because of the irregular path, no one will spot you until the sun comes up.

Plus you just don't know what is in the woods at night. A few years ago, a black bear was spotted back there. It's right along Trumbo Canal and gators are spotted in the canal.

My husband is a runner and he often goes out before the sun comes up, but he stays off that path until it is light enough to see where he is going.
