Can you walk from OKW to Epcot or MGM? Is there a ferry that goes to DTD; does one go to the BW, too? Thanks so much! We look forward to our first visit in May.

You cannot walk from OKW to any theme park. You could walk to DD/Marketplace, but I'd only do this during the daylight hours as part of the path is not well lit. It's much easier to take the DVC Ferry to DD/Marketplace. This is a BIG perk as far as I'm concerned when visiting DD area. Because lately, over the past few years, parking has been getting tougher and tougher at DD/Marketplace.

And no, sorry, you cannot get to BW via this Ferry. Your best bet would be to either :
1) take the DVC Ferry to DD and then catch a bus to the BWV
2) take a bus from OKW to Epcot and walk. But you'd have to walk all the way through Future World, over to the part of Worldshowcase where the International Gateway is. Exit through there and it's about a 10 min walk to the BW.

I'm thinking option #1 would be better.
Actually driving or a cab would be the way to go. OKW isn't that far from BW drive time (maybe 7-8 min ?).

getting to BW from OKW would be faster to take the bus to the Studios and walk along the canal to BW rather than walking through Epcot.

Yeah...that is a 15-20 min walk from DHS to BW. I did it once. It would be shorter than walking all the way through Epcot .........

They could also take the boat from DHS to BW.

Thanks for your replies. I thought there was a path to walk to Epcot, but I may have mistaken it for another resort.

Only BWV, BC, BCV and YC (and Swan and Dolphin) have a path directly to either Epcot or DHS.

hope this helps....and you're welcome......

We have stayed at VWL and enjoy the convenience of the water taxi and monorail. I've never used the bus system to go park hopping. Is it a relatively short ride to the theme parks (MK or Epcot) from OKW?

There are 5 internal bus stops at OKW. If you are near the first stop, it will take 20 minutes before you leave the resort, then about 20 minutes to MK. EPCOT and DHS are pretty close bus time wise once you leave the resort. AK takes a while, like from most resorts. Overall the bus system is no better or worse than from other resorts.

We love OKW - it is very central to everything - just google Disney World Property map and you will see all the resorts and parks. It takes maybe five minutes by bus to DHS and Epcot if you get on the bus at Hospitality House. Magic Kingdom is around 15 minutes and AK 15-20. DTD is a 3 minute bus ride, if that, but the DVC ferry is very relaxing and beautiful to take to DTD. If you want to visit BWV or BCV resorts, I just did this last month. Took a bus to Epcot, walked through to World Showcase (just about 3-4 minutes if you don't stop and look at anything!), and BCV is exactly 2 minutes to the lobby, BWV about four minutes.

3-4 minutes - boy you walk a heck of lot faster than I do - it took me 15 minutes to get to International Gateway - and a good 10 minutes to BWV.

alot depends upon how fast you walk - and the crowds - if they place is crowded you are going to be alot slower. some people at WDW go at a turtle pace and they ALWAYS are with a group of at least 10 and everyone is walking side by side - not behind each other.

LOL - yeah, I do walk fast when I'm alone - and I did walk through WS just as it was opening at 11 am, so the 10-wide groups (yes, they exist!) weren't out yet!

Me too Pat.....I have never been able to make it in less than 10 min and we walk at a fairly brisk pace. I'd have to be running steady to make it in maybe 5 min. Particularily when they say 3-4 min to the LOBBY ? :confused3

Wait...maybe I'm not understanding ?
You are saying you took the bus from OKW to Epcot. The bus leaves u off near the entrance in Future World. So you are saying you made the walk from that entrance all the way THROUGH World Showcase in 3-4 min ? And then to BCV only another 2 min ? Did u actually time this iluveeyore ? Because maybe it seemed like it was that quick, but that's pretty difficult to do unless you run like a cheetah ?
Sorry....not meaning to call you out on this....but maybe it just appeared to take only 6 min total from the entrance of Future World to BCV. But I don't believe that is physically possible ?

BW is surprisingly close to OKW, but there's no good way to get there via Disney transportation. I'd actually consider taking a cab. It's not going to be very expensive at all, and will save you a lot of time.

Did I read somewhere that recently the OKW DVC Ferry no longer stops at the Marketplace? I thought I read that now it only goes to the West Side, and you have to walk over to the Marketplace. I thought this was within the last few weeks. I hope I'm wrong about this change. Can anyone recently back confirm or deny?

I believe the change is that the OKW boat will be going to the Pleasure Island dock near the McDonald's. Not the WestSide dock, nor the dock over by the Rain Forest café. Not 100% sure so maybe someone who's there can confirm.

The SSR boat will apparently cover the Treehouse villas, the main SSR dock, and the Marketplace dock near Rain Forest.

I don't think these new routes go into affect until the Treehouse Villas open for occupancy, beginning June 1st.

I was there in January and we took the Ferry to DD every day we were there, and only once did it stop on the Wolfgang Puck side, and that's because we asked. Every other time it went straight to the other side. I don't know which one is West and which is Marketplace, but whichever one has the Wolfgang Puck Cafe is no longer a regular stop.

Also, I have to agree on the Epcot timing. My 6yo and I went from ToonTown in the back of MK (LOVING TINK!!) to Akershus in Norway in 24 minutes, and that was by monorail, and we were MOVING!!! We had breakfast ressies for the princesses, but we were FIRST in line for TINK at Pixie Hollow, so we had to MOVE! The parks were empty, as it was a Wednesday in January, so crowds were a non-issue, and my 6yo is pretty fast. By the time we got to Norway, we were both huffing!

The lobby to BC IS a 2-3 minute walk from International Gateway.
Boardwalk I didn't time, but it's about twice as far.

And no, I've never timed the actual walk through Epcot - maybe it did just seem that fast, so anyone going soon could time it just to make it definite. I'm just trying to say that if you wanted a quick way to BCV, that is the easiest and fastest with only one bus ride and no boat ride at all.
