If you were choosing between SSR and OKW through resale which would you choose. The costs are very comparable.

depends if OKW quits in 2042 (which some do) and SSR goes to 2057 (all do)

would go with SSR.

otherwise OKW - love it. bigger rooms, less conjested, more space.

As long as you would get the extra years (until 2057), I'd do OKW. IF you can't find a contract with the extra years, then SSR will have more longevity for you, provided you are young enough to take advantage of it.

OKW has that CONDO feel. pull right up to your room. But my only complaint is the VERY limited food options. SSR is a golfers dream with a newly refurbished pool. Don't forget that the THV are part of SSR. Also SSR has a walking path to DTD.

I have researched many...many hours and decided to go with SSR. I personally enjoyed the decor and closeness to DTD (close to the partyparty:, quiet when you need the rest:angel:). The pool looks great and the setting seems serene when my wife and I go by ourselves. I guess we feel that we can get plenty out of it now with the kids and just as well when we are going on our own. My personal view though.

We keep going back and forth on where to buy. Our favorite resort is BWV, but we can get more points if we buy a resale at SSR or OKW. Any thoughts which would help us make this decision would be greatly appreciated. Currently we like to vacation in October when our kids have Fall Break and I am concerned that it will always be impossible to get into BWV at that time if we don't buy there. We don't know if we should make our decision based on points or location. Please help!!

As you might guess from my screen name, I'd pick OKW. The rooms are much larger and the resort has a nice relaxed feel. The "density" is also lower so you don't have as much foot traffic outside your unit.

I have the same dilemma as the OP. I currently own at VWL but want to add on a contract with a longer end date.

It's good to know that food options are limited at OKW because we would typically be in a studio.

How do OKW and SSR compare as far as transportation? I know that busses can be hit-or-miss anywhere, but in general is one easier to NOT have a car at?

:) Please don't worry about the length of the contract and buy where your heart is....if you don't then you will always wonder "what If" DVC is too expensive for that. Things could change in your life tomorrow...try not to worry about 30 years from now. By then you will have other options. I would not buy at SSR or OKW. I would stick with BWV and would smile every time I thought of home. :cloud9:

One thing to think about with SSR vs OKW is home booking window and what you want. OKW and cheap Grand Villa vs SSR and THV if either one of these are important to you that is where I would go.

Another poster asked about a few more points or where you want to stay..........where you want to stay if you want to go in high demand time. Only you can determine what is most important to you such as contract lenght, cost per point, MFs or booking the place you want to stay. Also keep in mind if you can't book more than 7 months in advance points are points the purchase price, MFS and contract length are the main factors.

We own at both resorts. I would buy at SSR for access to THV. And except for THV, I'd stay at OKW because we like the accommodations there MUCH more than SSR.

Stayed at both. Like them both. I would pick OKW. Largest villas for the value with a better feel.

I agree with ToddyLu if you love BWV then you should seriously look at buying resale there, especially if you like to travel in October since BWV is really hard to get during F&W festival! Lifestyle, travel times and circumstances do change over the years but a safe bet is buy where you want to stayin the long run you will be much happier!

My take on it is go with your heart and choose BWV. There is always a small chance of getting it. It books up quick. I would go with BWV because then you can make sure you have priority when you want to stay there.

Ok, as another Central Illinois resident you can see from my name my favorite...would have NEVER bought at SSR...thank God for OKW, but if you love BWV buy a resale there....Oct is very popular with the EPCOT resorts...I always say "buy where you want to stay"...it will all work out in the end and you won't be unhappy staying where you don't want to be.

I own both but if I had to add on today.... would buy more OKW
Love the room size and the Grand Villa for so few points ... in general.... more "bang for your point/buck)
One of my fav places in all of WDW is the Gurgling Suitcase at OKW

and..... there is a walking path to DTD from OKW too!!

To answer your original question, I would pick OKW over SSR for the overall theme. OKW is very laid back, tropical and quiet and I loved that aspect of the resort. While I have never stayed at SSR, the theming does nothing for me. But being able to walk to DTD from SSR is something to consider (although you can take a nice 10 minute boat ride to DTD from OKW).

However, the Golden Rule is BUY WHERE YOU WANT TO STAY! We just got back from a stay at BCV and I can not imagine staying anywere else (other than Kidani ;))! I know OKW and SSR have cheaper annual dues but if I am spending the money, I want to spend my vacations where I am most happy.

Good Luck! :wizard:

If your main choice is BWV, then that would be the right path to take. Harder place to get into without 11 mo window and I would think SSR and OKW would be easier at 7 mo.

Also, not sure but if it is your first point purchase then even more reason to go BWV. If you are in your second purchase, then perhaps point accumulation is an idea, thus SSR and OKW would garner more points for you and the money?

That would be true if BWV had the same maintenance fees as SSR and OKW, but BWV has signifcantly higher fees, and always has had.
