OKW villas

We stayed in an OKW Grand Villa once - it was amazingly beautiful! I hope we can do it again - maybe next year (:

We checked into a 1bedroom at OKW last night and absolutely love it! This is our first time staying at OKW and it will not be our last.

I asked for a room by the hospitality house because my wife has mobility issues. We're in building 62, on the 2nd floor, which is a 2 minute walk to the hospitality house. The villa is beautiful and I cannot believe how big it is! We own at AK and the current rooms there are so much smaller.

The villa is absolutely spotlessly clean. No signs that anyone else has ever stayed here. The bathtub is great, we really enjoyed a nice relaxing bath together last night. ;)

The bed is super comphy and not rock hard at all! In fact, it's softer than our mattress at home and we both slept like logs last night.

We are also amazed at how quiet and peaceful this resort is. It truly is very relaxing and we're even debating on if we're going to go to the parks today, or just hang out at OKW and relax. This is a first for me as I'm usually wanting to be at MK at opening! Not today. This resort really feels like a vacation destination, not just a place to stay while visiting the parks at WDW.

We already can't wait to come back here again. It's honestly that wonderful.

Uh Oh! Duck and Cover! Here I go on another tyrade!

Ya know...I'm sorry and I will try to make this my last post on this thread about this. But I am DONE apologizing for having had a bad stay at OKW.

I don't think you need to apologize for it at all, and I think that everyone accepts that you had a bad stay at OKW. What I think most of us don't understand is how you can regularly bash a resort after one visit. Everyone/everyplace can have an off moment. That's what you experienced at OKW. There's really no need to continue to post such negative tirades against it. That's all.

I don't know why I can't just bite my tongue and resist speaking about our experience sometimes.

You really do, IMO, need to try....simply because you had one bad experience. When I have one bad experience with a place (resort/restaurant/etc.) I try to give it the benefit of the doubt. If, after a second visit nothing has improved then I might speak out to others about it...although probably still not as vehemently as you have here. If you had been to OKW several times then I would better understand your need to inform others of your experience. But you seem to now realize that perhaps you just experienced that "off moment" so hopefully that will help you to be a bit less vocal in bashing OKW in the future. Again, I don't think you have to love the place...it's not to everyone's taste. But to have one bad stay (where you never even asked to be moved) isn't really the best indicator of a resort.

Perhaps you feel the need to speak out so much because your vacation was such a disappointment. I can completely understand how a vacation that isn't all you hope it to be can be such a disappointment...but continuing to bash OKW only causes you to relive that experience. Just let it go. Don't ever stay at OKW again if you don't want to. Move on and experience all of the other DVC resorts and have a great time!

We love, love, love all of the DVC resorts! The points are lower at OKW because it was the first DVC...the original! :) And they can't raise the points, if I remember my contract correctly, the points will always stay the same.
There is always a chance you won't have the best stay no matter where you are. My last experience at BCV wasn't great! They charged my credit card for my room, even though I was staying on points AND while I was taking a shower one day, I got hit in the head when a door in the ceiling fell open! But, I still had a wonderful time...even though it took phone calls every day of our stay and visits to the front desk and finally a talk with the manager on our last day to get the credit card thing straightened out.
The 3 best things about OKW to me are: #1 the grounds are beautiful #2 it really IS like going home at the end of the day, I don't feel like I'm heading back to a hotel becasue OKW looks more like a neighborhood, and #3 the size of the rooms-the bathrooms at OKW are HUGE compared to the other resorts, and so are the 1, 2 and 3 bedroom units.

OKW is fabulous...but it IS possible that there may be something wrong in your particular room.
