OKW Vacation Report

Just got back after renting points and staying at OKW for a week (3/5-3/12). We stayed in bldg. 17, which was a close enough walk to the main pool and right by one of the other pools. We loved the resort, the room was beautiful and the OKW as a whole was relaxing and just quiet enough for our tastes. The parks were nice and quiet from Sat until Wed, but after that it got crazy. I have no negative experiences to report about the whole week, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Thanks for all the info I've gotten from this site, it helped make the planning and everything a lot less stressful. My kids did NOT want to go home. (ok, I didn't either).

Edit: There's a walkway to DTD and SSR from OKW, but no one wanted to tell us about it, I just found it when I was out running, but I had asked 3 or 4 cast members before that and all said there was none. Are they planning on closing it?

Jim...thanks for your comments and for sharing your feelings about your OKW stay. Since there are no negatives in this post, it probably won't get a lot of comments!

I think sometimes that people on these boards know a lot more about some of the ins and outs of the resorts than some of the newer CM's. As far as I know, the path from OKW to DTD has been around quite some time, and I can't imagine why they wouldn't tell you about it if you asked. Glad you managed to find it while exploring OKW.

We were at OKW the same time as you! We were in Building 45. Loved everything about OKW - we didn't want to go home, either!!! I'm already counting the days until I can go back.....

We are going to be staying there in June, with children, and I was wondering if it might be fun to walk over to DD for dinner. How far is the walk?

If it still exisits (which I assume it does) about 15 minutes, maybe 20 (??)
But I definately would not take it back to OKW from DD if it's dark.

We're heading back there this August. My kids can't wait to try out the new pool slide. Did your kids get a chance to try it out during your stay ? Glad you had a nice stay

The walkway to DD is about a mile, maybe just a bit more.

My son loved the slide, he must have gone down it 40 times the first morning we went there.

Looks like it's from .93 to 1.45 miles, depending on where you start in OKW.

Were there special activities going on for the kids? I heard that there is usually a schedule going in the "community hall". What were the activities and did your kids participate? Just curious... thanks!
