OKW trip report

Well folks, I have been lurking here since I found this site and have loved reading all of your posts and advice. I just have to say that this was our first trip to a DVC resort and after staying moderate for so long, I wil not be going back. We are a large family(7- 5 kids under age of 7) so having space to roam and a kitchen was heaven. We arrived at 1pm and room wasn't ready but was told by CM that our request for 1st floor and non-smoking was met. YAY!! With a double stroller we needed the 1st floor. We went for lunch at the Sci-Fi ( Way Cool) and stayed for Fantasmic. When we called for our assignment we found we got 4312. ( It is a 2 bedroom) I cannot tell you how awesome this room was. It was clean, spacious beyond my imagination, and the view was gorgeous overlooking a pond/lake with fountain and across that was a golf green. We were directly acros form the Turtle pond quiet pool, which we never went to but very convenient. also the bus sop was very handy. And to my amazement and delight, I was out on the proch thinking how nice t would be to have a hammock to sleep outside on, what did I see appear before my eyes but the Pleasure Island fireworks. No I realize they arent the grandest display, but just the icing on my OKW experience.

We had a blast and found we really didn't see a lot of people. queit and laid back is an apt description. I am hooked. We were renting and when I am done with school, I am in!! OKW is where I want to stay. I don't understand the assuption some seem to have that it is a downgrade to stay there because it is older and less points. The landscaping is lush and full (not over grown). and perfect. The buses were fine, ran in a timely fashion.

The rest of the trip was great. Wishes was awesome, Peter Pan can't be beat. Got to see the Lion King Festival for the first time, and enjoyed the whole thing. Got 100100 on Buzz Lightyear . Experienced the people who think they are the only ones there and stop in the middle of a walkway top consult the map . But the sights and smell of Disney is in my blood. Gotta love it.

Glad you enjoyed your first stay at OKW ! We stayed in bldg 43 last July----I know what you mean about the view.

We just bought into OKW last fall and make our 1st trip home in June.
We see so much OKW bashing here it was starting to make us have 2nd thoughts about what we had done.

Your report makes me feel much better.

Well ILPHIL, you will not be disappointed. Everyone has thier favorite resort, however the "arguements" against OKW are realy null and void. This resort has no bad view, at least that the way it appeared, and it is quiet and gorgeous. Another priceless benefit I forgot to mention was the close proximity of the parking. They are not kidding when they say it i s close. After havng to walk 10 minutes from the car to a room at a moderate resort, this was a huge blessing. You will be so pleasantly surprised and pleased with your purchase. Soon I will join you as a member, first have to find a perfect resale. It will have to be a small contract at first as I am working my way through college. After that the sky is the limit.

Oh, and the bus stops at the parks were very close to the entrances as well. NIce perk too after a day of walking in the park and having the bus stop right there.
