OKW to POP. Is there a big difference?

i should add that my kids LOVE staying at the Pop Century!!
and when i say kids, they're 27 and 25 years old..
and their spouses love staying there too!

so i wouldn't worry about switching....it's different, but not necessarily worse...just different...but also disney...
and the CMs are very good in our experience..

and if you like pool games, there seemed to be contests and games going on at the pool all day long...or at least, every time we walked by..

Thanks again, we won't be on the dining plan for the final 3 nights so I was thinking of doing universal etc so to not waste meals.

And don't forget that the dining plan is active up to midnight on the day you check out of OKW so if you have any credits left over you could use them on your first day at Pop Century, have a great time...

I don't get the comparison between POP and the Fairfield Inn LBV. We've stayed at both and I rate POP over the other any day.

We will have to disagree on that one then, we love staying at both Fairfield Inns LBV, Marriott Village 4 times & the one formerly Country Inn 4 times. Far prefer either to any Disney value resort.
We even prefered the new revamped room at FI (formerly Country Inn) to our OKW room this year. Better beds, pillows, shower, 30 x faster internet.
The worst thing for most Disney resorts for us are the pools, we like a nice quite pool, OKW Millers rd pool is great, went to the main pool once 4 years ago and totally disliked it, same as the value pools, far too busy, games, loudness, not my sort of place.
After we stayed at AS movies 12 years ago we said we would never stay at another Disney value again even if free, I stick by that, they are not our type of place.
Good thing we all like different places or the values would be heaving (more than they are)

the problem for me with the disney resorts is they are way way way way way overpriced for what you get...
you're paying an awful lot just for branding...
the cost of the GF is totally ridiculous....no way do you get value for money there....for the cost of a room at the GF, you could stay at some of the finest hotels in manhattan...and get a lot better service for it..

that disney branding comes with a hefty price tag...

We've never had a problem with the pool at POP, but then we always go mid-late September, ask for rooms in 80's or 90's and only use the computer pool. We have had the whole pool to ourselves on many occasions. I can see why you would prefer FFI for that.

the 80s and 90s are too far away - we like the 70s best!! not far from the main building, but not near the noise of the main pool!!

Time of year possibly makes a difference to pools, we only go in school hols, this last trip July-Aug was both UK & US school hols, the resorts/pools were packed out.

Reason we bought DVC:thumbsup2

Thats one of the problems Disney has with pricing, they have to look as though DVC members are getting value, they must find it difficult to discount and sell DVC membership.
I wouldn't pay rack rate for any Disney resort, only reason we stayed at OKW for last 4 years is the 42% discount and free food.
For our next trip we could have stayed at Pop for £42/nt with AP discount, not much more than FI Marriott Village at £37/nt but as I said I would pay more for FI than stay in a value again so Pop was not an option.

don't think they have to discount to look as thought DVC are getting value, cost for us to stay at OKW 4 nights, vero 3 night,BLT 3nights and SSR,6nights cost us for rooms using our dvc £93 per night(initial outlay + total annual dues paid so far, then divide by how many years)much better than 42% discount and free food.
Oh and that cost per year comes down next year and rack rates go up.
In the early years of the free ddp yes it was good and did seam to make dvc a poor option.we eaven did it quite a few time ourselfs, but not since it changed a couple of years ago

we still kick ourselves that we didn't go for DVC years ago...it would have been a total bargin for us by now.:goodvibes

same here if we bought in the early days, when we first looked think that cost per night would be £70 per night.
As for staying of-site we would not do even if not in dvc, security and piece of mind.means we will always stay on site
love the values so pop ok for OP,stayed there the first day it opened and loved it.
Have used it as a first night a few times as better for our points then we would go to dvc
