OKW - Studios with a View

Hi,

After our stay which we thoroughly enjoyed in 2010, the only minor disappointment was the lack of a view from our studio balcony due to the height of the vegetation.

We stayed in block 34 near the Turtle Shack pool, and this year would like to stay somewhere near again, as we enjoyed this pool area.

Just wondering if anyone could advise of studios in this area which do have a view that I could request before we check-in.

Many thanks.

Every studio on the first floor of OKW I have been in surround by vegetation that you can't see through. I would request a high floor (as long as you are okay walking up) as the best views we have had from a studio is on the top floors.

I'd agree with the PP that asking for a unit on the top floor would more likely give you a better view. However, even then you may have to deal with palm trees blocking a view. You might want to request one of the buildings that are alongside the canal instead.

Plus most of the studios are located at the ends of the building.

Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately, in 2010 we had a top floor studio but still no view!!!! Will check the resort map for those located alongside the canal (along Peninsular Road?) and see if we can request one of these studios in advance.

We had a top floor also and no view. It seemed like the it was safer to stay inside with how overgrown the plants were.

We stayed in a studio in building 32, on the top floor, and the trees were higher than our balcony. Since OKW was the original DVC property and was built over 20 years ago, I'm guessing that the vegetation/trees are going to be pretty tall no matter which building you're in.

Is there anything around OKW that is worthy of a "view"? Is it that much worse to see trees and vegetation than to see whatever is beyond them?

OKW is mostly on a golf course so a "view" typically consists of a fairway. A couple of buildings overlook the canal to DTD.

I've had great water & golf views in 1 bedrooms at OKW. I'd post pictures but I'm at work. The problem with the studios is they are usually setback and the porch/balcony faces the side of the 1 bedroom.

At least if we get a view, I may be able to pick up a few tips on my golf ;)

Thanks for all the replies - greatly appreciated.
