Help, please! We're staying at OKW in March for our second time and very much looking forward to it. However, we didn't get to sleep past 5:30 a.m. any morning last time due to the linen cart rumbling down the street (one morning we looked out the window to see a path of tumbling towels lining the streets). I'm not real familiar with the different areas at OKW but I believe we were in the Turtle Crawl(?) area. Very nice location, near the bus stop, etc., but sleeping in a bit would be worth a longer walk to the bus or pool. We're not really picky people, but do any of you folks have suggestions and would we even be allowed to have a request like that honored now that the reservation is made?

BTW, you folks on the DIS are some of the nicest people I've ever read! Thanks!

The timetable for the "linen cart" or "laundry train" has now been changed to the afternoon- so you aren't likely to be bothered by that in the morning.

Here is an OKW building summary that may help with any requests you'd like to make. We've stayed all over the resort and have yet to find a location we didn't enjoy.

Have a great trip!

I have never experienced the linen carts at OKW but have experienced the early morning golf course grass mowers at OKW several times. They are very early and very easily heard from within the villa.
If I stay at OKW again, I will request a water view w/o the golf course being so close to the villa.
Have a great trip!!!!

We were at OKW last week in unit 54, across from the South Point pool, and the towel train did come in the evening, around 5 PM or so! But the golf course mowers where out at 6AM! WIn some and lose some I guess!

Same experience here, linen turbo train stopped, golf course mtce. carries on!

thanks
jaysue

I have had many stays at OKW that have all been relatively quiet, except for the time that some people crammed about a dozen people into the studio next to my one bedroom one year. A call around 2 am to Disney Security took care of it, along with followup to the Resort Manager the following morning.

Hey, sorry! We were on a budget! ;) I don't see why 12 in a studio isn't allowed anyway! ;) ;) ;)

Me neither!! 4 people on each bed, a couple in the bathtub and a couple on the floor! Piece of cake! Heck if it is warm enough you can even extend it to 14 and put a couple people out on the balcony! LOL!

Don't forget about the two or three sleeping in the car that need to use the bathroom every hour on the hour. Bang, bang...let me in, I need to use the bathroom!!!

Yikes, y'all are reminding me of my college days when this was standard procedure! Anyways, Cmadsen, I've got some room reports from OKW, and none of the studios mention any noise. However, someone who stayed in #3726, on Old Turtle Pond Road, did say how lovely and quiet it was.

And we always hear how much bigger OKW rooms are compared to other DVC resorts.

LOL! Sorry for hijacking your post. Glad you got your question answered before we did it. ;)

I can't say I recall hearing the linen train......our most recent stay was in building 43 and it was quite peaceful and quiet. Very nice water view.

:) LOL!
Well......now the wording has change somewhat.....instead of going on about the big OKW rooms, now it is worded that all the other WDW DVC resorts have "....tiny, almost useless rooms"! LOL! :)

Not quite sure how/why some posters are getting OT here.....the OP was asking about quieter room locations at OKW. Hope we can get back on topic ;)

When the initial post appeared noisy laundtry carts in the wee hours of the morning, OKW CMs were made aware of the thread/discussion. It is my understanding that the laundry carts no longer make their way down the street in the early morning hours.

We were at OKW the last week of Jan in a 2 BR, Bldg 13 in units 1315 and 1316. I slept in the studio part and never heard any linen carts nor mowers. Gosh it didn't get daylight until 7:10 AM. How do they mow in the dark at 6 AM. With mower lights I guess.

You will see that many times threads evolve from one subject to another here on the DIS. Not to worry, as the subject of DVC and OKW is still prevalent in this one. :)

Thanks for sticking up for me as the original OP....but I have to confess I kinda like the rambling method of having my question answered. Again thanks to all of you...and I'll tell the 15 extra people we're bringing on our trip to be verrrrrrrry quiet in that HUGE OKW studio!
