Hey,

I have invited my mother to her 60. to her first ever WDW-trip. At the moment, after our first choose is sold out, I've the following options - all including the Standard Dining Plan, so my mother doesn' t care about prices:

1. Old Key West - Studio
2. Port Orleans Riverside/French - Garden/Standard View
3. Saratoga Springs - 1 Bedroom Villa: +$1.200 in comparison to 1. and 2.
4. Animal Kingdom Lodge - Studio: +$850 in comparison to 1. and 2.

I know my mother would slightly prefer a room with balcony, so we can sit there private for some eine or beer. So POR/POF would be theoretically out.
But she also needs some fast snack for breakfast After getting up, so I would prefer a grab'n'go in the food area to get a bakery item or fruit cup for her. As far as I know, that would be not possible at OKW, am I right?
But of course I also don't want to pay to much. And okay I slightly prefer two seperated beds.
And we both would prefer not so long transportation ways.

So there is always a tradeoff, but perhaps you could give me any advice about these resorts.
So far I've only been to POR and could only just, that the food court would be appropriate for her "needs", but so there is no balcony. But is the availability of Grab'n'Go snack items at OKW so much worse? What shout SSR or AKL?
I just don't know, what would be the best choice for the two of us?
And of course her wishes are a bit more important than mine.

So what would be your choice?

Neither SSR or AKV would have two real beds. SSR would have one king bed in the master bedroom and a queen sleeper sofa in the living room. AKV Studio would have one queen bed and one double sleeper sofa. OKW would have two queen beds; same with POR/POFQ. OKW would give you the kitchenette with an undercounter refrigerator, microwave, toaster and coffee pot (12 cup Mr Coffee style with flat bottom filters). You would be able to stock your kitchenette with items for breakfast, bread for toast, toaster pastries, cereal, bacon/eggs (we usually get precooked bacon because you can cook just what you need and not worry about the rest going bad). POR/POFQ wouldn't have any balconies. OKW has a nice porch/balcony for the studio. Both AKV and SSR would have nice balconies. If you booked AKV-Jambo House, you would have access to The Mara for that morning meal. Kidani Village would mean you either walk to The Mara or you buy something from the store in the lobby (or Sanaa might still have quick serve items depending on when you go). SSR would have the Artist's Palette for quick serve. OKW has Goods to Go or the store to get those items. But keeping something for a breakfast snack in your villa would probably make more sense than needing to walk somewhere to pick up something.

Yeah, because of the lack of a balcony I also think, POR/POFQ is not our first choice.
I also know that SSR would mean Sofa-Bed for me, but hey if the other points are better for her, than it would be okay.
Regarding AKL: According to the official site there is the possibility of getting a studio-room with 2 Queen-Beds at AKL - not sure which section, though I wouldn't book through DVC.

I've already thought about ordering breakfast snacks via online grocery for her, but I also know that she would prefer fresh fruit (perhaps fruit salat or fresh yoghurt with fruits) or fresh bakery items than some preordered bagels from the fridge. And of course if already paid through the Dining plan, this would also appeal to me... Walking would also not be an issue, I'm fit enough and could take something up, when she is in the bathroom.
How is the selection at "Goods to Go" at OKE? Much worse than at POR? Would AKL or SWR have a better selection regarding to her wishes/needs?
And which of these resorts would have the faster/better transportation, as we have to take the internal bus-/boat-transfers?

There are no studios at AKV that have two queen beds. All studios at Jambo House or Kidani Village have one queen bed and one double sleeper sofa. However, the hotel rooms have two queen bed, but no kitchenette.

Here is a link to the menu at Goods to Go. https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/old-key-west-resort/goods-food-to-go/menus/ I don't have any link to the offerings at the resort store.

With just the two of you, I would look into the options that actually have two queen beds as opposed to one and a sleeper sofa. There are quite a few options for ordering breakfast items/snacks to have in your room.

I would definitely go with the OKW studio. With a refrigerator you could always pick up yogurt, a pastry, and/or fresh fruit while you are out the day before.

Then she could enjoy a quick breakfast on that balcony.

Thank you all. A night of thinking later, I decided the same way and just booked OKW. Also with a bigger amount spent at the grocery store for breakfast-items (think I will use Garden Grocer) I will save enough money for a short 1day-trip zu US/IOA and some wine for her than with going with AKL or SSR.
