I was wondering what is the difference between the kitchenette in the stuidios compared to the full kitchens in the one bedrooms. What is missing in the kitchenette that the full kitchen has. Thanks so much :-)

A kitchenette is small area between the sleeping area and the bathroom. It has a bar sink, small undercounter fridge, microwave, coffee pot, and toaster. No range top or oven.

Paper plates and bowls, real glasses and coffee mugs.

Studio has a tiny dorm room refrigerator, toaster, coffee and microwave, and the OKW one bedroom kitchen has it all....full fridge, range, all the glassware and dinnerware and baking ware, blender, etc. etc.

The one bedroom also has real dishes, and a dishwasher, and, of course, a washer and dryer, and a HUGE bathroom. A one bedroom is well worth the point difference. Oh, yes, it also has a full balcony, while a studio has just enough space for two chairs, and no view.

Really, no good views from the OKW studios?

That would be a disappointment. Having never stayed there, I was hoping to save points on a future trip by booking a studio room.

They are just not as great as the views from the porches at OKW. Since the porches are so big, you get a big 360 view from there. The studio is just a small square balcony with a single chair and a small table.

The kitchen in the one bedroom at OKW is massive. Kitchen island also holds the TV set for the living room. Plus a full dining room. And a real laundry room, with full size washer and dryer, not stackables in a closet like the other studios.

One small thing is that the refrigerators in the 1 BRs make ice. If I remember correctly, in the studios, you have to go get ice.

Here's a link to Allears' DVC page: http://www.allearsnet.com/acc/dvc.htm

On the left side of the page, you'll see each resort listed, and under each resort you will see a listing for Photos - text links. Click on that and then click on the individual photo links to see whatever you are interested in about that resort. The text link saves sitting through a slide show of pix you don't care about.

You'll see there's a teeny bit of difference between a studio and 1 BR! A studio is better than a regular hotel room; a 1 BR is heaven!

One other big advantage to a 1BR vs a studio at OKW - the jacuzzi tub in the master bathroom!!

We love OKW and return there often. Since becoming DVC members we are spoiled. We never do a studio (we let our grown children use them though), because we love the 1 bedroom toooo much.

If you do rent a studio, request an upper floor. The views are better than the ground floor studios. There tends to be alot of vegetation/shrubbery on the ground floors around the studio porches so if steps aren't an issue, make a request for the 2nd or 3rd floor. But if you can spring for the 1 bedroom, I say "go for it".....you will be wow'd.

Don't forget, though, if you request that higher floor room there are no elevators in the majority of OKW buildings. Only 62, 63 and 64 have elevators.

If you want great views, got to go to BWV boardwalk view.

Now see....here's my take.....there are so few of the actual BW view rooms at BWV.
I'm one of those people that likes to sit out in my jammies on the balcony in the morning or late at night and sip coffee...wine....whatever I'm in the mood for. I would definitely not want a 1st or 2nd floor BW view room----no privacy ! :rotfl: I prefer the privacy at OKW. But it's nice that WDW has something for everyone.....

I don't think anyone has mentioned the major difference about OKW studios. They have 2 Queen beds and no sofa sleeper. Some people prefer that, but when I'm in a studio I like to have a couch to sit on. I do love the OKW 1 bedrooms for the space, whirlpool, and all that others have mentioned. And points are usually low enough it's not that much more than a studio elsewhere on property.

I agree the sofa is nice...but when we travel with our kids, they MUCH prefer the regular queen bed for comfort. Also, when I traveled with a friend once, she did not like sleeping on the pull-out......she said she would have preferred the actual bed. So OKW studios are nice for those that like a real bed. My kids didn't mind the sofa pullout when they were little.....but now they push for the real bed as teens. As an adult, I would not like to sleep on the pullout---even the ones with the new mattreses. I think a single person or a couple would do well in a studio with a sofa since they wouldn't need it to actually sleep on.

ITA! That's one of the main reasons that when I go solo, I don't stay at OKW. I love to sit on the couch, feet up on the coffee table, drinking my morning coffee or afternoon/evening beverage of choice.
BTW, welcome to another Woodstock person from a former Woodstock oerson, and a life member of the Woodstock Fair!
