I was reading some old posts and I am curious about towels! *L*

I know that maid service (full cleaning) is extra $$$ unless staying 7 (I think) nights.

I also know that there is a free trash and towel day at day 4.

We are staying in a studio so we won't have a washer/dryer in our room. I can't imagine using a towel twice without washing it!

So are these our only options or is there a DVC 'trick' that I'm missing:

1) Buy a towel pack every day ($6 for 4 towels X 6 nights ~ that's $$ just to use clean towels!)
2) Bring a suitcase full of towels from home!
3) Go to the laundry every evening. (Can you say 6 hours of wasted vacation!)

What does everyone else do??????

Thanks!

If you stay eight nights, you get a full cleaning on day four and Trash and Towels on day eight.

Do what the rest of us do. Hang up your towels on the towel bar and reuse them. You should be clean after you get out of the shower or tub. Do you really use a clean towel every day at home????

Um, truthfully, we hang up our bath towels every day and re-use them. You must do a ton of laundry at home!:D

Maybe (I'll probably be flamed for this) you could run down to the pool and "borrow" an extra towel or two. Or more.

Yes, I (actually we ~ my family of 4) do use a clean towel each day. I guess I'll have to blame my Mother, as that is how I was raised. :(

Do people really hang their towels over the rod and reuse them? Will they be completely dry (I have long hair and my towels get really damp) with the humidity of Florida?

I actaully had not even thought about the pool towels!!! So if we do swim we don't have to use towels from the room??? Correct???

Sorry for all the strange questions, I just don't wan't my first trip home to be full of unplesant findings. I'm afraid my hubby will think DVC is a 'cheap' way of vacationing.:earseek:

Thanks

scrub and get clean, you can use the towels the next day. If you or your family do not clean yourself very well in the shower, I would give this a shot before bringing a new supply of towels for each day. Hope this helps.

*LAUGH* We are CLEAN when we get out of the shower... I just can't imagine having wet towels hung on the rods in all the bathrooms in our house. :earseek: I guess I just like things to be clean (and neat!) *L*

Actually I think I'm going to buy the kidos the character hooded towels before we leave for the trip and give them each one on our first day there. They can use them for a few days  That would leave hubby and I two each. So DH and I would only have to use a towel twice before trash and towel day. And I would wash the kids character once in the middle of the trip. I think we can all live with that... don't tell my Mom *L*

Many hotel chains are asking people to hang up their towels rather then sending them to the laundry.
I have seen these signs in many hotels in the last few years.
I often try to do this.

I will probably get a few towel packs, just so we have at least 2 bath towels each.
If I do this, I hope that they don't take them all away when they do the housecleaning, leaving me with only 8 again.

One of my brother's concerns, about staying via my DVC points rather then staying at the value resort, was the lack of maid service. He was concerned that we would not get clean towels every day.

Daily maid service is not missed by our family. In fact, we prefer it. We make our beds every morning at home and hang up our towels every day, so why not at our Home Away From Home? It's so nice not worrying if the housekeeper has already been to the room when you come back after a morning of fun. Or if you want to take an afternoon nap, no one will walk in and wake you up.

I do the same thing Shari, except I usually go through 2 towels a day, 1 to dry and 1 to wrap my hair in. On vacation I don't mind reusing the hair towel, but that's it.

We stay in a studio on the weekend (we arrive Friday night) and then Sunday move to a 1 bedroom for the week. I wash towels there every day and decline trash and towel day.

Sounds like you have a good plan with the kids getting the hooded towels. You may want to just get an extra pack of towels or 2 of towels and then head to the laundry. You can also ask to have your trash and towel day moved if that works out better.

We like (ok, so it is just me:tongue: ) having the washer and dryer. I pack enough clothes for 3 days or so and then wash and wear the same things. Really cuts down on what I have to bring and we go home with clean clothes int he suitcase. I confess, DVC has spoiled me beyond belief with the 1 bedrooms.

Keep in mind that for 6 nights, you would only need paid service 4 times. If you did daily trash & towel:

Day 1 - check-in, included
Day 2 - $10
Day 3 - $10
Day 4 - included trash & towel
Day 5 - $10
Day 6 - $10
Day 7 - check-out

I thought an extra towel pack was only $6 or $7 . Isn't $10 for trash and towel service. You can just order an extra set of towels for $6 or $7.

One of the benefits of a 1 BR is the washer/dryer, so this isn't a problem.

Thanks for all suggestions and ideas everyone. I really appreciate you taking the time to help me with!

I know that DVC is a home away from home. I don't mind the making your own bed thing and no daily maid service. Actually like someone said, you don't have to worry about leaving to be out of the maids way.

I would LOVE to stay in a 2 bedroom and have the washer/dryer. I know its avaiable in the 1 Bdrm but I don't want the kids to sleep on a pull out. We only bought 75 pts (but will have 75 points banked). So we are going to go a few times in a studio until we can add on a few more 75 pt contracts.

I think I have a strategy for the clean towel situation. I only have to buy one towel pack!!!

Day one: Kids get NEW character beach towels (that I find on sale now) DH & I each use 1 from the starter towel pack

Day Two: DH & I use 2nd towel from starter Towel Pack

Day Three: Buy new towel pack, DH and I each use one new towel ~ Wash kids after baths that night.

Day four : Trash and Towel day ~ DH and I use second towel from bought towel pack

Day five: Use 1st towel from towel and travel pack

Day six: Use second towel from Trash and Towel pach

Day seven: Going home ~ No showers

~*~ Clean towel each time ~*~ One Towel pack bought ~*~ One trip to wash the kids towels!

Thanks!

The towel pack is $6. Trash & Towel service is $10 per day. With T & T, they give you extra soaps & coffee each time plus take out the trash.

For anyone who has ordered extra towels, do they take the dirty (and wet) towels when they deliver the new ones? Do they just deliver them at the door or do they hang them up? Just curious.

Is it possible to get full maid service each day, if so how much for a two br.

$40 per day requested.

I believe trash & towel is $10 for a 2 bedroom also. That would be a good deal over the towel packages, you would get 8 sets of towels.

what if you wanted t and t day to be day 5 instead of day 4 is that a problem?

we're staying 8 nites in 2bd, but 1 set of parents will be with us day 1-5 then they leave and the other set arrives for day 5-8 ... i'd like the cleaning to be on that middle day

also ... what is included in a "towel pack"
1bath, 1 hand, 1 washcloth or more?

thanks

If you are staying 8 nights, you will get a full cleaning on day 4 and trash & towel on day 8. You can call housekeeping and ask for it to be changed. Keep in mind that check-in day is day one, the scheduled dates are on your confirmation.

The towel pack includes 4 of each plus 1 bath mat.

sorry ... the towel thing has me confused
is there on towel pack per person?
assuming you have 8 adults in a 2bedroom ... do you get 8 sets?

thanks

You will get 8 sets when you check-in and they will replace those 8 on trash & towel day (or full cleaning depending on the length of stay). If you want to purchase additional towels, they are $6 for a package of 4 sets (4 of each size towel). In a 2 bedroom, you have a washer & dryer, just throw them in before you go to the parks and then throw them in the dryer when you return.
