Just a quick note to all.

We arrived home from our first stay at a DVC site at WDW on Sunday July 2nd. We had rented pts from a friend for a 2 bdrm at OKW. We didn't arrive until 1:00am on Sunday June 25th due to flight delays.
There was no one in line at the check in (imagine that! :teeth: ), we were assigned Bldg 21 third floor. I had requested the Southpoint area, but since we were so late arriving, we got what was available.

I was very leary at first as I had heard that there was alot of 'road' noise in these buildings, however I have to say that we had absolutely no complaints.

We had a beautiful view of the golf course with views of two of the water hazards on the course with fountains in them. It was beautiful. At no time could we even hear any road noise at all. We fortunate on two afternoons to see beautiful rainbows in the distance. One was even a double! :rainbow:

We have been to WDW many times however this was our first stay in a DVC and it was wonderful!!!! We spent our last night (Saturday) at the POP Century and everyone in our group agreed that we would have been way, way more stressed out if we had been at the POP all week long. The 2 bdrm at OKW was plenty large in size for all of us (9). The walk to the bus stop was short and the views were excellent. Even the walk to the HH was not too bad.

I had two small complaints. The first was the buses, not really to the parks, but to DTD and the water parks. The wait for the buses to get to the parks was usually 10-15 minutes (very reasonable). However the wait for the buses to either DTD or TL/BB were absolutely terrible we never waited less than 30 minutes for either. The only time it really bothered me was when we had tickets for Cirque De Solie. The show time was 9:00pm, we arrived at our bus stop at 7:50pm, the bus didn't show up until almost 8:30 and then it had to go to all the other OKW stops. We didn't get off that bus until 8:50 and then had to run all the way through Pleasure Island to get to Cirque before the doors closed. That was NOT fun!

The other thing that happened is that my husband got very ill with something intestinal. (We're pretty sure it's from something he ate at the Counter Service in Mexico). At the time I didn't know if it was viral or food poisoning so I went everywhere at OKW look for some kind of disinfectant. As there were 9 of us in the 2 bdrm I was really afraid that if it was viral, we'd all get it! The OKW store had nothing (I was looking for some kind of disinfecting wipes, etc). Concierge had nothing and they told me that Housekeeping couldn't give me anything to clean with due to OSHA rules. Live and learn! Boy the new rule for me is to carry a travel pack of Clorox Cleanups with me!

Even though my hubby was down and out for about a day and a half, it was a really nice trip. We both have agreed, that as soon as we can afford it (2 sons in college), we'll most likely be buying into DVC. :goodvibes

Sorry to hear about your husband. Glad you enjoyed OKW! Our first DVC stay was at OKW and it was so relaxing.

Glad you enjoyed your trip at our "home"! I have always felt the buses to DTD are a joke. For Cirque, you should have taken the boat from OKW to DTD. It runs every half hour. You could also have walked it faster from the path at the end of building 55. That leads directly to the CDS parking lot.

the DTD buses do both duty.... they are also the internal bus for OKW. so it might have gotten more use than was planned for - this does happen around dinner time....

it has to get rid of all its internal customer go back to DD - then it becomes the DD bus.... silly right....

the DD bus is also the TL....

but the AK bus was the BB - that one should not have a been a problem - or did they change it?
