The OKW slide opened without fanfare this morning at 10:00am. The rain deterred many from enjoying the new surroundings, but there were a few who ventured down the sandcastle and into the depths of the pool. the water is much warmer than the air today! ;)

Lifeguards are now in place. Hours for the pool slide NOT yet been finalized. It will close today at 6:00pm, but the lifeguard told me that they are considering opening at 8:00am and closing at 8:00pm. They may have more information tomorrow. The pool is still open at times when the silde is closed and will be without guards during those times.

Enjoy! (Click on an image for a larger view!)

Great pictures, thanks Doc. So were you one of the "few" who tested the warm water?

Is it just me, or do you think it looks unfinished? I know that the sand color is true, but it just looks like it needs a paint job! However, I just showed the pictures to my kids and they think it looks very cool. DD5 wants to know where the princess is, that goes with that castle!

I think it looks very cool! Thanks Doc!

Erin - I see what you mean, it just kind of looks blah sitting there with basically no color. I do realize its suppose to mimic real sand but still.....

It may look a lot different in person and I am sure once I get on the slide a time or two I won't care a bit! Thanks for the pics!

The color of the sand castle slide matches the oversized sand pail and sand sculptures in place since the resort opened. You can see that in a couple of the photos.

I think the photo may not convey the real "feel" of the pool, in part because of the gloomy sky in the background. It might help to try to picture a bright, cloudless, blue sky in those photos. :)

No one at the pool seemed troubled by the color of the sand today! :smooth:

Enjoy!

Thanks Doc for the pictures. We were anxious to see exactly where the slide enters the pool, and we really like its placement and think the coloring is just fine! Can't wait to bring our new grandchildren down.

Thanks, Doc!! We can't wait to try it out in March!!

I assume those kids the photos are running around, using it again, and again, and again. Tee-hee what fun!

Thanks for the pics!

Thanks so much, Doc...
we were getting a little concerned it wouldn't be open in time for....Us!!;);)

Gotta finish packing!!!LOL!

:sunny:

WOW, thanks for the pics DOC! I'm sure that two of my favorite colors, blue and warm, will make it look way better!

Great Pic's Doc! :)....not to pry....but do you do anything else in "life" other than staying at OKW???

If not....you're my GOD! :earboy2: ;)

Very nice addition to the Old Key West resort!!! Much needed pool improvement. Thanks for the great pictures. :flower1:

...and our man on the scene comes through again! Thanks, Doc.

It was funny, I was looking at the pictures and thinking, I bet this would look nicer with the sun shining on it -- looks a little like a "lump" on such a grey day....and then the conversation here turned to the very same subject.

So, Doc -- if you can, get us a sunny day pix! ;)

That was the first thing my husband said when we saw it for the first time Thursday night. Somehow it grows on you! We stopped by tonight to show our friends.

Doc, great photos despite the rainy day! Both times we saw it were at night & we did not have the camera with us :(.

But where's the action shot as you hold the camera and snap pictures on the way down? LOL.
