Are there safes in the Studios at OKW, we will be there in July and I was debating wether or not to bring a digital camera if theres no safe

Speaking of safes at OKW...Has anyone (besides myself) lost the safe key? Don't ask me how I did it but I did. Had to wait for the 'Key Control' guy to come to my room along with a CM. The CM and I had to be there when the safe was opened to insure that the 'Key Control' guy was off the hook if anything was missing from the safe. I think it cost me about $35. Oh Well, I guess that is better than losing my car keys.:)

I haven't lost the key at DVC or otherwise. My nurse just recently dropped her keys down the toilet while on vacation. It didn't look like she was going to get them back and she really didn't want them anyway initially. When she found out it was going to be around $60 for a new key, $35 to get the key programmed and another $139 to replace the electronic button; she changed her mind about wanting them back. Well, she did get them back and even the electronic components worked, even after the clorox scrubbing she gave them.

I did lose the key once and the Housekeeping staff kicked into high gear. One maid saw us looking for something and she and all the other HK staff working in the building (men & women) all started to help out in the search. We did find it....can't remember exactly where but it was someplace very obvious and I feel pretty foolish. I have found Housekeeping to always be extremely helpful and friendly.

OKW safes are only in 1,2, and 3 bedroom units. The HH will keep things locked up for you if you want. Rembemer, you don't have housekeeping in your room everyday anyway. We usually feel quite safe at OKW.

Yes, we lost the key. It was a long time ago, I am sure the cost has gone up. We had to call a locksmith to change the lock. If I remember correctly, it was $65.

I forgot about the stuff in the safe when we checked out of the Beach Club last Sept. We were 2 hours up the road when I realized my checkbook, keys (hubby was using his to drive), cell phone, etc. were still in our safe in the room.

I immediately called the Beach Club front desk. They said we could come back (the entire family said no way!) or they would have to drill out & replace the lock and send my stuff back to me. The cost was $65 I believe and within 2 days, I had a FedEx package with all my stuff in it (they paid the FedEx bill out of the $65 fee, I guess).

We decided that paying the $65 fee was better than the 4 extra hours of driving time tacked onto the 15 hours we already had to drive.

It was an expensive lesson but they handled everything very well and I was more than satisfied with their response.

I think you guys are right, $65 is more like it. All I remember is it was not cheap and took about 1.5 hours to do. I was amazed how quickly the safe was 'broken into'...About 3 seconds.
