OKW Room Request Recommendations

We will be checking into Old Key West in June, we are staying in a studio. We will most likely have an ECV, so I know I will need to request either ground floor or a building with an elevator. Aside from that, does anyone have any recommendations as to what to request?

I have seen that there are studios in the 62 building that look to be gigantic in comparison to other studios (I think one was room 6225) and I believe this building has an elevator, just not sure what the room and perhaps just as importantly how hard it will be to get a bus with room for an ECV at that stop would be. Of course, I could always drive the ECV to a different stop if need be and meet up with my wife back at that stop, but I would prefer to avoid that.

As far as I know, all the studios at OKW are the same size. I've never heard of larger studios in bldg 62. As far as location, a studio is a studio. I'd request Ground floor or Elevator, and make sure Member Services know that is your priority, then also mention being near a bus stop as your secondary priority. I think you'll be fine. If you do get bldg 62, you really aren't much father from the Peninsular Rd stop than the Hospitality House stop. I think it would be to you advantage to use the Peninsular Road stop as that is the first stop in the resort, and they should have room for your ECV. I have seen ECVs denied at the Hospitality House stop. My Mom was in a manual chair for years when we went to Disney. The first 3 bus stops at OKW are Peninsular Road, South Point (the farthest from Hospitality) and Old Turtle Pond Rd. We never had issues with boarding her at any of those stops. I would avoid Miller's Road and the Hospitality Stop with an ECV or wheelchair, if possible.

If you look at the floor plans, 6215 and 6225 are definitely larger than the other studios in that building, I think these might be the only two that are larger.

That's exactly what I used to do when we stayed in one of the elevator buildings (64). I'd drive my ECV to Peninsula Road, the first bus stop (and DH said it was a fairly short walk. We also got off there coming back.

The studios are the same size. There are a few studios in the three story buildings shaped like a squared U that do not have a window other than the patio door.

I see, which layout would be more condusive to bringing an ECV in?

The layouts are all the same. It's just that a few don't have the window. Most studios are located at the ends of the buildings except for these U shaped buildings where the studios are in the corners.

Ok, I am really confused now, building 62 is not a U shaped building, both highlighted rooms and the other one on the end are all studios. The highlighted room that isn't on the end sure looks bigger to me and I have confirmed on multiple sites that it is indeed a studio.

The highlighted room on the left that isn't on the end is a one bedroom, not a studio. The highlighted room on on the end on the right side is a studio. Sorry, I tried to fix the link for you to show, and it disappeared.

Image embedding this link doesn't seem to be working.

At OKW all studios connect to a one bedroom, to make a lock-off two bedroom. The only instances of studios being next door to each other is in the U shaped buildings.

EDIT: At least I was finally able to get the link to show in your post, again.

Touring plans and several others shows that specific room as a studio, so I am confused.

Here is a screenshot of info for that room:

Again, here is the link:

And if you look that room is slightly smaller than the one bedrooms next to it, so it makes some sense, unless all of the different resort map sites are wrong, it appears this and the room directly above it (6225) are studios, am I missing something? Am I clicking something wrong? Are the map sites all wrong?

Really, if so it is fine, but I keep seeing that this is a studio everywhere I go.

Not sure if linking to this other site is allowed, if not, please feel free to remove the link:

Again...ALL studios at OKW are connected to a one bedroom. There are no dedicated studios. For that highlighted room to be a studio, the one next to it would need to be a dedicated studio, no dedicated studios exist at OKW.

The building shown has a layout on first and 2nd floors: studio, 1 bedroom, 2 bedroom dedicated, 2 bedroom dedicated, 2 bedroom dedicated, 1 bedroom, studio.

3rd floor has three dedicated 2 bedroom units.

Read the comment on the bottom of your first link in the above post.

touring plans is NOT an official Disney/DVC site, just another group looking for a few $$$ to provide info, some good, some not correct. For real info, this site is best, because we have been in the units not just someone taking their best guess.

Those are definitely errors on touring plans.

No,62 is not a U shaped building.
These are the U shaped buildings.
Type D buildings are all 3 stories.

3rd Floor- 1,S,S,1 1 S,S,1
Buildings 14,18,35 and 38 are all Type D.

Here is the layout for Bldg 62.
Type A buildings are all 3 stories.
1st Floor- S,1,2,2,2,1,S
2nd Floor- S,1,2,2,2,1,S
3rd Floor- 2,2,2
