Hi,
We will be at WDW for two weeks this August. The first week we will be staying at SSR and then are switching to a two-bedroom in OKW. I have never stayed there and am having a really hard time figuring out what to request on the online check-in through the My Disney Experience site. I have read people mentioning the Hospitality House, but that is not an option to choose on the online check-in. The choices are:

Corner Room
•Dual Bathroom Entrances
•Second Floor
•Ground Floor
•Fairway View
•Upper Floor
•Lower Floor
•Near Elevator
•Near Transportation
•Miller's Road Area
•Peninsular Road Area
•South Point Road Area
•Old Turtle Pond Road Area
•Canal View

We will be traveling with two kids, ages 9 and 11 and will have a car. I know they will want to swim. I'd like something pretty to look at and a quiet unit (no road noise). Any advice? I can pick two of the options above.

Please help!!

Thank you. pixiedust:

Hospitality House is a *booking* option, not a preference. If you had wanted HH, you needed to book that.

Dual bathroom is a preference option? How cool is that? It does mean you will be far from HH, though. TOTALLY worth it, however, if you have people sleeping in the living room area who don't want to go through a bedroom in the middle of the night.

I love the Turtle Pond area, and their little pool.

OKW is our home resort; we have stayed there more than 40 times. Let's go at this by crossing some things off -
- if you have a 2 bdrm reserved for 4 people, the dual bath entrance is a non-issue;
- wherever you are in OKW, there's a bus stop close enough, so let's not waste one of our choices on that option;
- floor level is your call; unless you have health issues, the higher the floor, the better the view generally at OKW;
- only 3 buildings have elevators; however, those buildings are close to the feature area .... something to consider
- I think only 3 or 4 buildings have a canal view; it's a pretty view and people love it; but again people love it, so your chance of getting it might be reduced;
- the 4 "Areas" are a personal preference; I absolutely don't like Millers Road; the village pool there is small and I find the area congested; Pennisular Road is where many of the Hospitality buildings are located and you didn't book one of them; the few that aren't Hospitality have views that look over the golf course but have heavy foliage; many people like South Pointe; the village pool there is not large, but it does overlook the canal; my preference, like that of the PP, is Turtle Pond; that village pool is larger and there's a small snack bar and a small arcade; there are playgrounds at all of the pools.

I always request a fairway view in the Turtle Pond area. That's all I've got! ;) Good luck!

My favorite area is Turtle Pond, it's usually pretty quiet. My favorite buildings were 38 & 43.

I'm surprised near elevator is a choice since only 3 buildings have elevators and no rooms are far from them.

Great replies, thank you! Is there a canal view in the Turtle Pond area, or am I better off asking for the fairway?

To the PP who mentioned the HH being a booking option, I forgot to mention (but had meant to) that I booked through RCI, so our only option was the resort and number of bedrooms.

Thanks everyone!

I went ahead and asked for Turtle Pond Rd and a canal view. Thanks for your help!

The canal is in the South Point area.

Turtle Pond is more fairway and water views.

I was reading the replies in anticipation of responding in my own thoughts, and wham...you hit me with you asked for Turtle Pond!! Exactly what I was going to suggest, meets the criteria in 1. You have your own car(getting to the front area of HH is not a bad walk from TP) 2. You automatically get the 2 entrance bath(we specifically ask for the TP area as the 1 beds have this same 2 door entry into the bath area) 3. The pool area is really a plus, and 4. TP area is really quite and we love those golf views.

In other words, you did good, enjoy!!

This thread is perfect timing for us also! We have a one bedroom and will be traveling with two boys (ages 5 & 8). We will have a car so proximity to transportation won't be as much of an issue for us. I'd love to have a fairly quiet/peaceful location, but still close to a pool. I'm also paranoid about the boys bothering other people. They're not unruly, but they're still boys. ;) How much does sound travel to the floors below? Any location suggestions? This is our first time staying here and I'm at a complete loss!

Sounds travels a huge amount to the floors below. We lucked out in our 1bdrm that there weren't people above us the two nights we were there. If you're worried about the boys making noise, I'd request a first floor room. If you're worried about noise from above and are okay with needing to keep the boys from jumping around, go for a top floor.

And I agree with the others to request Old Turtle Pond. We loved our room in bldg 35!

I like the Peninsular rd buildings (25-27) since it is the first stop for the bus and it is close to HH. Normally I walk over to HH bus stop in the morning (this is great if you just missed the bus you needed at the Peninsular Rd stop). HH is the last stop before the bus goes to the parks.
In the evening I get off at Peninsular Rd stop as it the first stop coming from the parks. This is great when you are exhausted (aren't we all after a long day at WDW?)

23 to 26 are in the "near hospitality house" category. 27 to 29 are not but have bad views due to trees along the fairway.
