We are considering heading back in Mid December looking at a 1 bedroom @OKW. We took the boat from OKW to DTD a few trips back and loved the look of some of the ones right on the water. Any thoughts or suggestions for a which building or room to go for? Thanks all. :santa: :banana: :banana:

Building 55. Right on the water over looking the canal. Very relaxing and a fantastic view. :thumbsup2

We've had 1 BRs in several different areas and never been disappointed as long as we've been on the top floor (one year we had a group of golfers above us-I think they were practicing in their villa, but at least they went to bed early). However, I've got some room reports at OKW and I'd love to get a 1 BR in Building 17. I've heard some great reports on the views there. We were in Bldg 15 last year and loved it.

If you specifically want to be on the canal, make that your request, and you should be happy. Buildings 45,46, 55, and 56 are all on the canal. All are also non-smoking buildings.

::yes::
If you request a specific building, there is a big chance that the rooms that meet your other requests in that building are already occupied when you arrive. The room assingner would have no idea why you requested that building - was it the location, the view, that you have stayed there before - and would have to guess at what building you might like.
Giving a general request for what you want gives the room assigner more options to try to meet your requests.

Are these the only buildings available on the canal (meaning I say canal view I'd get only these buildings)?

I don't want to be obnoxious and make endless requests. We are staying in a 2 BR/1 BR in June 2007. We'd like a water view as our mother will stay in the room a few days while we hit the parks and we want her to have something nice to look at.

By the way, do all 2 BRs at OKW have two queens in the second bedroom no matter if they are dedicated or lock-off units?

Are there counter service dining options at OKW? How far (minutes-wise) would these be from this area? How far is the bus from these buildings?

We'd like to get a lock-off also - we know we aren't guaranteed we won't have to move, but we'd love to avoid it if we can. Again, want a nice view to accommodate our mother. What do you think the chances would be of getting a request for a canal view lock-off 7 months out for June 2007? Again, my intention is NOT to be obnoxious - anyplace at Disney is better than not being there! We just want to accommodate our mother and give her a great vacation! :)

Thanks! :)

The only view I really dislike at OKW is a POOL view because the one time I had that (my request), the accompanying noise was awful! And I am not talking about daytime noise from children...it was rowdy adults out by the pool in the wee hours of the night! Security had to be called and then, thank goodness, things quieted down!

OKW is our favorite resort and I am a new fan of the SouthPoint area. I normally request non-smoking, near bus stop, quiet location, golf course or WATER (not pool) view, and TOP FLOOR. (and Member Services has always been very nice about encouraging me to add as many preferences as I want, but we all know they are ONLY requests and not guaranteed). I have been relatively happy with all of my room assignments (about 8 stays so far). For a solo trip this Nov., I requested non-smoking and decided to leave it at that and see what happens!I think I am more picky about views, etc. when I have friends with me because I want THEM to love DVC and be impressed. For me, just being at OKW is a treat, no matter where i stay!

We'd like a water view as our mother will stay in the room a few days while we hit the parks and we want her to have something nice to look at. There are quite a few water views that are not necesarily on the canal. There are a lot of ponds/fountains at OKW, and many of the golf course view buildings also have water views. All of the buildings along the Miller's Road section have fantastic golf/water views. Franklky, I have not had a bad view at OKW in more than 20 stays, and I never request anything other than non-smoking. I do have preferences, and that would be South Point or Millers.

By the way, do all 2 BRs at OKW have two queens in the second bedroom no matter if they are dedicated or lock-off units? YES!

Are there counter service dining options at OKW? How far (minutes-wise) would these be from this area? How far is the bus from these buildings? There is Good's Food to go that is a counter service behind the main sit down restaurant (Olivia's) at the Hospitality House. There is also a snack bar at the Turtle Pond Pool that is open seasonally. There are 5 bus stops in OKW, so you are never far from one no matter which building you are in. All buses also stop at HH before leaving the resort, so that makes getting to the HH area easy as well.

We'd like to get a lock-off also - we know we aren't guaranteed we won't have to move, but we'd love to avoid it if we can. Again, want a nice view to accommodate our mother. See the red highlighted areas for my answers to most of your concerns. I think stating a water view will be sufficient to get what you want. The ponds throughout the golf course make some pretty nice water views in addition to the canal ones. I especially like the view from buildings 16, 17. 21, and 22 on Miller's Road in addition to the ones on the canal. Here is a map for you.
