I bought 240 points into OKW in 9/05. This was my first trip to a DVC resort. My almost 4 year old son and wife and I went to OKW from 1/19 and returned home on 1/23. Overall, everything was great. Here is my review.
We landed in MCO at 11:45am. We got on ME. Even though we did not receive our luggage tags before we fly to MCO, they easily found our bags and they were in our room later in the day. We arrived at HH about 12:45pm. We only requested a studio since there were only three of us. We could have waited afew hours and received a studio near HH but on the 3rd floor. Instead, we elected to take a studio in building 47 on the first fllor. I must tell you that many people (including myself) asked endlessly about which building and room to ask for. After four days of being at OKW and seeing much of the resort, is there really a bad building? How much time did we spend in our room to get all worried about our view? Not much at all. Some of the buildings have more traffic near them based on the traffic pattern of the DW busses. I must also tell you that this bus route seems rather poorly planned--they have to cut thru parking lots, close to some buildings, just to turn around??? Very bad Disney planning. The bus transportation around the resort and to the parks was as quick as I expected. I never waited more than 15 minutes. I also walked a lot to HH because it was a shorter walk than it appears on the map. The resort is very quiet and we like the direct entrances to the rooms.
Room-The studio was larger than I expected and it was clean. The fridge was much larger than I expected and there was room in the freezer for a few items. It was nice to have a toaster and microwave which we used every morning for breakfast and every evening for popcorn. I am not used to not having daily housekeeping, but we got used to it.
Grounds and Recreation-The pools that we visited were nice--we went to the pools at HH and Turtle Pond. We liked the playground at Turtle Pond better. The boat ride to Downtown Disney was very nice. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. We rode bikes one morning and the cost was very reasonable.
Food-We had a good dinner at Olivia's one night. We bought some food from the store for breakfast and snacks. Overall, it was not as overpriced as I expected except for a couple of items. We had dinner at Chef Mickey's one night. It was expensive but my son loved it and about 6 characters came to our table. We went crazy for them.
Parks-The parks were not busy at all. It was great. We saw Expedition Everest from a distance and it looks great.
This morning, ME picked me up at 8:20am for an 11:30am flight. It seemed early but by the time we had breakfast at the airport and got thru security, we arrived at the gate at about 10:25am.
Overall, we loved the trip and loved OKW. We plan on going back there next January with a two bedroom. We are going to Disneyland this July and will be using points to stay at the Grand Californian. We are very excited about that too.
I would be happy to answer any questions you have.
