We are staying at okw in Sept. Any reno'd rooms ready? If so which numbers? During our last stay our room was terrible. Disney assured us weD get a reno'd room next time. What are they like?

Most of the buildings in the Turtle Pond area have been done, and they are now working on the South Point area acording to reports on this board. If you look around here, you'll also find a couple of videos of the renovated rooms. The carpet is gone in the living room, furniture has been recovered ore replaced, new granite countertops, new carpet and bedding in the bedrooms and new redone furniture there as well. There are new paint colors, and a wood/vinyl floor in the living room as well as an added sleeper chair.

Thanks for the info. I just found a video of a reno'd one bedroom on youtube. If you search under Old key West renovated, a video posted May 2010 comes up. It looks great. Now i'm really looking forward to our trip.

I wish someone would post some good still pictures of the 1 bedroom renovations. That video was made with the blinds open, so there is no way to really get a good feel for the colors, and it's not terribly well focused. I'm reserving judgement until I see it in person, but I can say now that I'm very disappointed that they didn't keep the metal bed frame in the master and that they took away the victorian turn of the century charm of the theme. I think the one thing that stands out most as ruining that theme is the bedspreads. They now just look like modern beach hotel....not grandma's pieced quilt of the Victorian era.

Does anyone know the timetable planned for the renos? We've got a spring stay booked in the near HH category and I wasn't sure if those had been done yet.

TIA!

Your wish is my command because you asked so nicely :thumbsup2

We stayed the first week of June in 3021, re-novated 1 bed.

Thank you for posting the terrific photos! It looks so pretty! Can't wait for our return to OKW in just 4 weeks!!!

I notice the sleeper chair, does that mean that you can now sleep 5 in the new rooms? The room looks great.

Thanks for posting...we are actually heading to OKW tomorrow for our first stay and we requested 2 of the remodeled buildings (43 & 40) and hopefully it comes through:banana:

Great pictures - still not sure about the things they have done - just doesn't seem like that summer cottage at the turn of the century feel but will reserve judgment until we actually stay there. In the meantime will be checking mousesurplus to see if they have the stuff that is not in the villas any more yet. Really like the old chair and ottaman and would like to get one.

Yes the re-furbished 1 bed villas with the added sleeper chair now sleep 5.

I mostly liked all the changes apart from the dark wood dining table; it didn't match with the chairs and was already scratched :confused3

Thanks for posting the pictures!

Unfortunately, now I'm seriously bummed, because it looks even worse than I was expecting. It was hard to tell from that dark video, but I really do NOT like that they replaced the floor tile in the kitchen with the vinyl. UGH...it looks so stark! You would have thought they could at least put an area rug under the coffee table or something to break up the monotony. I'm not loving the new colors in the living room either, and sorry, but I want the metal bed with the footboard back! I can just tell that bedspread is going to be heaped on the floor every morning, and be a royal PITA!!!

Great pix. I love the feel of OKW. Just one question....where is the hair dryer? I didn't see the standard attached-to-the-wall hairdryer in the bathroom.

For the past 13 years the hair dryers at OKW have been wall mounted above the vanity in the shower/toilet room. Not sure if they still are that way, since that room is not pictured in the photos posted. If it's no longer on the wall, I would look for it in the drawer of the vanity in that shower/toilet room.

Love that there is now a sleeper chair.

Don't love the black dining table   :confused3

Especially don't love tat there is no area rug under the coffe table or around the sitting area.

Between the lack of sheers ar BLT & the lack of an area rug here I feel like they have really been cheaping out. Could we have please spent less money on throw pillows & allocated it to sheers/rugs :sad2: :sad2:

Will they be messing with the GV's at all?

Great pictures. Thanks for posting them. We will be back in 2 months and 3 weeks for a two week stay. Like the idea of the wood floors and new colors. Nice fresh up date.:dance3: Can not wait for the next trip.pirate:pirate:pirate:
