We will be back home again end of Sept. Does anyone know if the remodels will have started at OKW and if we are able to book a one bedroom with 5 guests. We just got back from two weeks and when i mention 5 guests in a room they sort of said it can happen at times but they do not give extra bedding. Any ideas on time tables ?:dance3:

From what I understand, DVC will accept a reservation for 5 in any 1 bedroom (but no extra bedding or linens).

According to dvcnews.com they are currently remodeling OKW and the new 1 bedrooms will now have a sleeper chair and will sleep 5. So imagine they will include all bedding once this remodel is done. I know dvcnews.com is not official, but they seem pretty confident in what they are reporting. We are glad, but will miss not having the extra bathrooms that both BLT and AKV provide in their one-bedrooms.

Does anyone know what areas at OKW have been recently remodeled and what areas are presently being provided with upgrading? Thanks

The major rehab has just begun and will take months to complete. The villas are getting new carpeting, paint, wood flooring, flat screen TVs, etc. The 1BR villas will have the sleeper chair added to the living room furniture. The rehab should be completed early in 2011.

Anyone know if any of the buildings refurbs have been completed yet? I would like to try and get one if I can. I originally requested bldg 62 but now I have been told that the HH bus stop is closed for renovations to the baggage area. I will be there next week. I suppose I can change my building request when I get there?

We are booked for a stay from 8/15-8/20. We talked to MS and the woman on the line said there should be completed rooms by that time, so we requested a refurbished room (obviously no guarantee). I hope they do have some finished and we get to see them! It looks like they desperately need a makeover:laughing:

Be careful what you wish for. I think they started the refurbs on buildings 30-40, so that would be Turtle Pond area. If you booked HH catagory, you wont likely get a refurbed unit yet. If you requested an elevator building, those will likely be the last to be refurbed, since they are the newest and their exteriors were just done earlier this spring.

Currently at OKW right now. CM at check-in said refurbs at buildings 30, 31, 32 & 33 were completed. I will see what others are being done before we leave.

The video of the refurbished studio has me less than enthusiastic about the refurb. I was hoping they would at least stick to the Carribean theme so it still looks like OKW, but they went dark and floral....looks more like SSR...Ehhhhh...I don't think so! I'll reserve judgement until I see a totally refurbed 2 bedroom, but I'm not excited about what I've seen so far.

Our family too are underwhelmed with what we saw of the refurbed studio on that video; wish they kept things light & bright :sad1: hopefully when we see it how we feel about our OKW home won't change all that much.

What I noticed that caused me concern was roman type fabric shades on balcony doors, it made me wonder if these come under advisory by CPSC re strangulation hazard posed http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml10/10073.html Not sure if during video I noticed these fabric shades on windows as well or if windows still had wood-slat blinds ); although window blinds have cords too so parents still need to watch kids closely no matter which, but hopefully DVC is on top of safety issues too.

:)

Yes, I think that video was especially dark, so we'll just have to wait and see. It's probably lighter than that looks.

Has anyone seen these rooms in 'real life' yet?! Any photos out there from lucky people who have got to stay in the refurbed rooms?
Debsx;)
