Got back Monday from a quick 3 night trip to OKW and as usual it was wonderful! I'll be posting a detailed trip report on the Trip Report board, but thought I'd post resort details here.

Trip was sort of last min and only planned about a month out. Just DH and myself arriving Fri 11/14 and checking out Mon. 11/17. I had originally tried to get a studio @ BWV since that is DHs favorite, but all they had available was a 1 bedroom for 118pts. The only studio avail on short notice (last wkend of F&W Festival) was @ OKW and was only 50pts. Since I love OKW, this was more than fine for me! DH and I both couldn't see using the extra points for such a short stay.

We drove down from Atlanta which was not a bad drive. We've just moved here from PA so it's the first time I've driven "home" and not flown into MCO. We arrived about 6:30 and rec'd a very warm Welcome Home from the guard but not at the checkin counter :( In fact the gentleman that checked us in was less than welcoming and spoke almost in a whisper without looking at us. He did try to sell us "discounted" Cirque du Soleil tickets but we passed.

We were assigned room 1910. I had not made any special room requests so this one seemed fine at first glance. It was very clean and everything that should be present was. In checking the cabinets, I noticed 2 ashtrays so it must have been a smoking optional room even though I could not detect any lingering smoke odor. The big surprise came when I walked out on the balcony and noticed that we were practically on display for all passerbys on the road outside and were right across from the bus stop. This really became apparant when the first bus rolled up to the stop! It sounded like it was coming right through the room:eek: The buses coupled with those NOISY golf carts made the location less than ideal, but definitely not unbearable. Next time we'll know better and request a quieter location.

Crowds seemed low and we never had to wait more than a few min. for a bus and the weather was perfect! We did have a very loud upstairs neighbor with a child that bounced a ball (sounded like a bowling ball) from early AM until about midnight each evening. The father wasn't much better as he could be heard yelling at his son to "Come on Jason! I'm ready to go!" every AM around 7 or so.

All in all it was a wonderful albeit quick trip! Can't wait to go back soon as 3 days just isn't enough!

Hi,

Glad you had a good quick trip. Sometimes that's all you need. :)
