My 11 year old son and I will be arriving in 8 days :woohoo: for our first stay at OKW! We are using rented and borrowed points so we have two reservations. Three nights on one, two on the other. Both are for a studio, neither is near the HH. Do you think they will be able to keep us in the same room for the entire stay? Also which area would you recommend that we request? I'm sure we will be doing plenty of swimming in the afternoons, and my son especially will take advantage of the refillable mugs. Also is the wifi good enough for us to use Skype? Thanks everybody!

It's always possible that you might have to move, but OKW has a good track record of keeping people in the same room ..... as long as they know about it. If you haven't already asked that the reservations be linked, you can do that. Also, when you check in, discuss it with the CM who assists you. We've had to still go to the lobby to pick up new keys on the day of the switch.

The Turtle Pond area has the largest pool of the "non-Hospitality House" areas. It's known as a quiet pool......not exactly an accurate phrase. It's a basic pool. It is also the only other pool with a Snack Shack, although it seems to be open for only a few hours a day (maybe you'll find it open longer in Aug) and doesn't have the variety of the one at the HH. You can refill mugs there during the time it's open, but otherwise have to go to the HH. All buildings in the Turtle Pond area are within a few minutes walk of that pool.

It's pretty easy to get from Turtle Pond to the HH. There's an Internal Bus, but we always jump on the very first bus that comes along (and verify that the driver is planning to stop at the HH). Turtle Pond is the 3rd of the 5 bus stops at OKW, so it's usually a 5-7" ride to get to the HH. HH is the final stop before leaving OKW. When you're ready to return from HH to your room, walk across the street from the HH to the first bus stop. Board the first bus that comes along, and it's 5-7" to get to Turtle Pond area. Or you can walk!
[When you return from the parks, if you want to go to HH before you go to your room, just get off at the first bus stop and walk across the street to the HH. No need to ride all the way around the resort.]

Hope you have a fantastic trip!

Depending on the time you get in from the parks, I have found the quite Pool to be a good place to just relax! There is a snack bar, so the cup should be good to go! I know first hand that the bar closes as soon as it even thinks about raining or storming! Now the big pool at HH has more to offer, but either way,the water is wet and its Disney! On moving rooms, just make sure you ask to stay put when you check in! You should have a good chance! Have fun and leave the lights on, I will be there in week this Wednesday!

How's the wifi? Is it good enough to Skype?

We stayed in the HH area in April and found the wifi to be a bit spotty. Occasionally I had difficulty getting connected and loading sites took much longer than my Comcast at home. Not sure if Skype will always work. I'm sure a lot may depend on the time of day too. The more people on the service the slower things will load.

I was in building 35 in April and thought the internet connection was great :yay:
