OKW Questions - villa locations & GV occupancy

Hi resort gurus,

I'm planning my bachelorette (doing it myself because I'm a Disney planner and it's just easier that way). I'm looking to rent DVC points for our rooms to have an on-site experience, but keeping as many of us together as possible. We'll have somewhere between 8-12 people, so I'm looking at 3BR/GVs or a 2BR and 1BR (with the 1 BR starting a day later as a few women wouldn't be there the whole time). We're targeting OKW or SRR (honestly probably all that's left), with a preference for OKW.

My questions are:

1.) Do OKW 3Br/GVs still have a sleeper chair? If so, wouldn't that technically raise occupancy to 13 max (1 King, 2 Queens, 2 Doubles, 1 Queen Couch, 1 Sleeper Chair)? There is one friend going from a totally different friend group and would be a little weird sharing a bed with others - she was psyched about a sleeper chair and not needing to worry about it. We do have a plan that she stays with me in the king if that doesn't pan out as a backup, but she'd prefer the single sleeper chair. There is also a VERY slight possibility that another person comes and that may raise our max to 13 people. Knowing if there would be beds for everyone regardless of the max would be great peace of mind.

2.) Is there a detailed floorplan of OKW that shows room locations and designations if it's a 1BR, 2BR, Studio, GV, etc? I know it exists for AK villas and a couple other resorts. This would help me figure out the feasibility of keeping a 2BR and 1BR together if we went that route over a 3Br/GV. It would suck if we had a 2BR, but the 1BR was on the other side of the resort. However, this method would guarantee beds available if someone decided to come last-minute.

Thanks for any help you guys can provide!

I suggest you go to YouTube and search Old Key West 3 Bedroom (or Grand Villa) tour. There are several people who have made videos that are pretty thorough. I do not remember seeing a sleeper chair in the living room of the Grand Villas, as they are a bit different in their layout from the 1 and 2 BR.

For floorplans, and to know where 3BR villas are at, go to Touring Plans and find Old Key West. You can check every building to determine which have the Grand Villas.

GVs are a hard maximum occupancy of 12 guests (plus one under the age of 3) regardless of the number of sleeping surfaces.

OKW has various room sizes scattered throughout the resort. Touringplans.com has a room locator tool that can help. You can request that rooms be located near each other but there are no guarantees.

FWIW, adding last-minute overnight guests without going through the owner or broker could be a violation of your rental agreement. It's best to add those would-be guests to the room reservation from the start since you anticipate having the extra beds.

Yeah I did a video tour of a 3BR Villa last night, and a sleeper chair wasn't brought up, but when I found a listing of bed types at different villas it still listed a OKW GV having a sleeper chair.

If we have a GV, it doesn't matter where it is, really. The question with the map is seeing proximity of 2BRs to 1BRs.

Yeah, I'd still add everyone or def let the owner/broker know about additions.

There are 1 and 2 bedrooms in every building.
Yes the GV has a sleeper chair. As said above the limit on people over 3 is 12. There are a couple GV’s that could sleep 14, but they can only sleep 12. We stayed in one at OKW last fall it was great, spacious and it has 4 full bathrooms, not all GV’s do. You’ll have to make one well before 9 months or so before your reservation, 11 months would be ideal. Congratulations.

Thanks for the help all! The last 3BR was booked earlier today, so I scrambled and submitted for a 2BR and 1BR.
