OKW Question

This last trip we just returned from we decided to stay one extra night on the spur of the moment and booked a studio at OKW. This was our first stay there, but it raised many questions to consider for our next trip.

Are all the rooms at OKW larger then their counterparts at other DVC resorts? We could not believe how much extra room there was!

Do all OKW studios have two beds, or did we just get a unique one? The kids loved not having to sleep on the pull out for a night.

If the above is yes, then if we move up to a 1BR, are we then back to one bed and a pull out couch? I would imagine yes, but figured I'd check with the vets!

I would have asked all this at the resort, but as I mentioned we were only there one night and we arrived late from the parks and then left very early in the AM.

yes all the studios have 2 queen beds.

Yes the 1-bedroom is a king and queen sleeper sofa in the livingroom (like the others).

Yes, all OKW are bigger than the other DVC resorts. the livingroom/dinning area of OKW is about as big as the other 1-bedroom.

OKW 1-bedroom and up - has a full size kitchen (bigger than my one) - a much bigger master bath, a laundry room with full size washer/dryer.

but I am with your children - I enjoy not having to pull out the sleeper sofa and put it back in the morning - boring.....I really wish that DVC would consider murphy beds..... Yes you do have to put them away - but much easier. So I stay in a studio alot!!!!

Huh? I've never seen a OKW studio bathroom to vary in size. Can you tell us which buildings you found small (or better yet, which ones you found were big)?

my first stay....building 25. much, much bigger.

the next biggest building 18.

the smaller ones in 30 and above or so I belief until this last trip.

Then I was in Building 11 - it is also small.

Well we were in 33, and I thought the bathroom was huge there, so if those are small, I guess I'm good.

I'm with you Caracarn.......Now that I think about it, I've never stayed in a building under #30---under #43 actually. And I thought the bathrooms there were huge so I'm in for a pleasent suprise if I get a lower numbered blding

Hmm, I've stayed in buildings from 13 up to 64, and many in between, and I didn't notice a size difference in the second bedroom bath. I guess maybe I did notice a size difference in the area of the whirlpool of the master bath though. The lower numbered buildings have a larger step to the tub than others. I only know this because I measured the one in building 55 when we were trying to determin how wide to make the step to our whirlpool at home. The one we had in building 13 this trip was much wider.

I remember someone asked this question before but I can't seem to find the post via a search, so I apologize for asking again: what is the size difference amongst the DVC resorts when compared to OKW studio, 1BR and 2BR? We viewed a BWV 1BR today and found it dramatically smaller than the OKW counterpart -- the BWV's living/dining/kitchen area felt like 1/2 the size of the OKW living/dining/kitchen. Could it really be that much smaller? If someone knows of a thread with a listing of the size differences, I'd appreciate being pointed to the thread. Thanks!

Last spring we stayed in a studio in Bld 28 and a 2 bedroom in Bld 45. The bath in the studio was slightly larger than the bath in 2nd bedroom in the 2 bedroom unit. Not by much, but a little bigger. We thought both had PLENTY of room. I especially liked the "circle" window in the studio bath.

The 2 bedroom OKW unit is bigger in square footage than our first house!
