We'll be staying at OKW for a few days. I had a AKV value studio reserved at 11 months - but after staying in a value with just the kids I realized it would be a mistake to end our long vacation in such a teeny room. I'm looking forward to giving OKW another try. :goodvibes

We were there once before and, at the suggestion of MS, stayed close to HH. For various reasons, I think that may actually not have been the best location for us - I don't mind walking and I felt like I did not really see much of the resort. We will have spent a week in a 2bedroom SV at AKV, and then 4 nights at Vero prior to OKW, so we'll be in a relax and just enjoy things mode. The area along the water that you pass on the ferry looked quiet and lovely - is that Turtle Pond???? Any reason to not request that area?

Thanks!!!!

Nope-- that sounds like South Point area, and it's a terrific area. The quiet pool and bus stop are close to the units there, and the water views are very relaxing. We stayed there our first time and loved it.

FWIW, Turtle Pond is across the main drag from HH. I haven't stayed there, yet.

:scared1: Ok - then I think I don't want Turtle Pond! I'm not a fan of the main drag.

I think I'd love that area along the river though.

Two of our very favorite buildings at OKW are the two right along the canal, and they are buildings 45 and 46. LOVE the view from those two!

awesome! i'll request one of those two. they were soooooo pretty from the ferry.

We were just in a 2-bedroom in building 50 over in the South Point area. We overlooked the golf course but we were also close to the main drag - Buena Vista - and it was a bit noisy. I was woken up twice early in the morning from sirens racing by. Sitting on the balcony we could see the big tent from Cirque - but we could also see traffic and that was a big con for me.

Turtle Pond Road is near a quiet pool, bldgs 30 to 40 something. The area near main check-in, where Good's to Go and the marina is located is the Turtle Crawl Boardwalk. Turtle Pond and Turtle Crawl are nowhere near each other, Turtle Pond is a pretty quiet area with golf course views.

Some of the names at OKW can be confusing. Before South Pointe was "South Pointe" it was Peninsular Road South, and before that, it had no name, the bus drivers referred to it as "no name bus stop." :rotfl2:

Hey girl... Haven't been to OKW yet either. But I think it will likely work into our schedule in the next year or so. I don't think that Diane would lead the entire world wrong... so, I think you can look forward to OKW with a sense of relief, relaxation, reality, rejuvenation, and a real good time.

Have a real great trip. :thumbsup2

Okay - now I am confused :goodvibes Is Turtle Pond is the area back by the canal or the area in front of the resort near the main drag? I'd like to be back in the trees - seeing it from the ferry - it reminded me of vacations growing up along river at my aunt's cabin (only about 45 minutes from Orlando).

Thanks!! I'm so ready for this summer, it's not even funny. I'm sure your DW feels the same way this time of the year.

Looking at the map, Turtle Pond is the road/area for Bldgs 30 to 44.

South Point is Bldgs 45 to 56.

Actually, Mary Beth now works 12 months at the school board office. Still she gets 3 weeks vacation, 15 holidays, 4 personal days, and has a zillion sick days accrued. Makes me sick...

I'm gonna try for a 7 mos. ressie for my May 2009 trip before my cruise. Give a trip report...any reasons not to request HH? It is close to the restaraunt, pier, main pool. Just wondered why some don't want to stay there?

Bldg 23 to 26 are part of the HH category, and they are fine. For bldgs 11 to 14, it can be difficult to find parking sometimes, because even with the lot by HH, there just aren't enough spaces, especially on busy check-in/out days.

Depending upon the make-up of your party, bldgs 29 and under only have one entrace to the master bathroom of 1 & 2 bedroom units...through the master bedroom. Bldgs 30 and over have 2 entrances, through the master bedroom and through the laundry room. It may be a problem depending upon who may be sleeping on the sofa sleeper.

If your looking for a woods view, 11 to 14 will suit your needs fine. The view is very wooded to protect them from the flying golf balls. 23 to 26 has golf/water views.

Chuck and diane - thanks for the input, map and advice. I called and requested buildings 45 and 46 - so here's hoping!

Whoa. Nice gig she's got there. Will she get a pay-out for unused sick days when she retires (my system will pay you for up to a year in bonus $$ for accrued sick leave).

Just for me personally, I did not feel as immersed in the resort close to HH - but I think it's a heavily requested area so lots of people would disagree! It was convenient, but I actually like walking around the resorts. We were in building 26 right behind the bus stop. The area along the canal is really pretty. I would love to end up with a balcony that had that view!
