OKW - question about renovation

Have all the room been renovated? What type of request would one ask for if they wanted a chance on getting a renovated 1 BR or 2 BR there?

Most of the buildings have already been completed. There are several still to go and those will be finished later this spring.

At this point I'd just request a renovated villa and see what happens. All of the units in the HH category have been renovated, so if you can get that booking category it would guarantee what you want.

Renovations will be complete in March.

I'm in building 56 now, and it hasn't been done yet.

Thanks for this info, Doc. We are going in mid-March and have a 2br HH reserved and I was just keeping my fingers crossed that we would get a renovated villa.

HH is Hospitality House. (eg Olivia's, check-in, main pool, etc.)

We're heading there in mid-March as well. Requested bldg 27 (its our favorite). Wonder what our shot is that the room will be renovated.

Has anyone slept on the pullout chair? Will it fit a 6 ft teenage boy??

They were also working on one of the buildings on Millers Road this weekend.

My son (17 yr old 6'2") slept on the sleeper bed, as did my husband who is about the same height, but larger. Both said it was fairly comfortable. But on Sat night when my husband slept on it, my son was in the king bed with me (Bill and his friend were both getting up at 3AM to run the marathon and Will and I got to sleep it) and he liked the bed better.

We're thinking of staying at OKW for the first time this year. How do the sleeper beds compare to other resorts? (I've read previous posts of yours so I know you've stayed at other resorts)

My son, the sleeper sofa expert, likes the ones at BCV better than the ones at OKW and SSR. The mattress is more substantial.

BCV has the ones that the cushions stay attached and flip under. OKW and SSR have the ones with the platforms and segmented mattress/foam pad (memory foam). Sleeper chairs are similar to the OKW/SSR sleeper sofa.

But all of them are horrid for sitting.

They added the sleeper chair. Pulled up the carpet in the living room and hallway and installed Pergo. Changed out the carpet in the bedroom. Painted a lot of the furniture. New bed spread. New fabric on the sofa and love seat and bedroom chair. Granite counter tops in the kitchen. Flat screen TV. Moved the internet connection from the dining area (BAD IDEA) to the corner table in the living area. Replaced the wooden slat blinds with manmade material blinds (with short cords so they are hard to open and close unless you stand on the sofa). Replaced the wooden blinds on the French doors with Roman Shades (which are nice but have childproof mechanism which makes it hard to pull them open). New curtains in the bedroom. New lamps. Painted walls. Replaced the metal bed frame with hollywood frame and wall attached headboard. No footboard. New accent pillow on the king bed. New accent pillows on the sofa and love seat. Added a rag rug in the living room under the coffee table (that now has crackled finish). Installed a valance in the living room over the windows.

Nothing in the bathroom except for the wall in the tub room that was pickled with flat paint.

Same artwork as before for the most part.

Answering the last part of your question - simply request a renovated room. No need to specify anything more.

The bathroom worries me that there were no updates. I hate stepping on the tiles in bare feet . One of the first things I do when checking into any room is put the bath mat down on the floor. But overall looking forward to our first stay at our "home" on our first trip as members. Hoping for a renovated room too of course, and by mid-March that shouldn't be much of a problem. I couldn't reserve HH area when I made my reservation in December so I requested buildings 45 or 46.

I can't think of any WDW resort, DVC or otherwise, that doesn't have tile of some type on the floor in the bathroom.

Wow, I don't know anywhere that doesn't have tile in the bathroom. I think that might be why they give you bath mats for every bath area. In an OKW 1 bedroom, there will be 2 bath mats...one for the shower and one for the tub.
