We're going with mom and dad and staying in a 2 bedroom. We requested 2 outside access doors to each room. Me and DH will be staying in Master bedroom with parents in studio unit. I was wondering if there is a good sense of privacy between units and if you felt like you were far away from each other or right on top.

Also I'm concerned about not being able to get outside access to both rooms in which case parents would be entering through the main livingroom like us. How would this affect the "privacy" aspect. Would love to hear some past experiences from you guys!!!! :)

We stayed in a 2 BR with my in-laws and felt perfectly fine. The bedrooms are definitely private, but there is plenty of common space in the living room and kitchen area. It was great for us. We didn't feel like we were crowded or on top of each other. We all shared the common area and went to our own rooms when we needed privacy.

I'm not sure about the other resorts but at OKW there is a long hallway back to the Master Bedroom. You will be very private when you are in your room and the bathroom area. It is possible to hear noise if you are right by the connecting door. Not a problem for anyone in the bedroom but you could hear into the studio from the one-bedroom and they can hear noise from the living room area of the other unit. The other place where you overlap is that the balcony of the studio abuts the window of the living room. If someone is asleep on the pullout couch they should be sure the blinds are tightly closed. ;)

Are you staying at OKW or VWL? If so, you should request a LOCK OFF unit to insure you have 2 entry doors. There is plenty of room and you will have all the privacy you need. There are 2 locking doors between the living area in the 1BR side and the studio side.

You will just love all the space at OKW, have a great trip.

I'm staying at OKW. We did request a lockoff unit, but they said we weren't guaranteed!!!!! So that's why i'm a bit concerned if they had to enter through the livingroom.

The CMs at OKW will do everything they can to honor your requests. I have always had all my requests met, that is after 15 different trips, too. The earlier you can check in the better your chances of getting everything you request. Even if you don't get a lockoff, you will have lots of room. A 2 BR at OKW is almost 1400 sq. ft. That is bigger than the 3 BR house I grew up in.

Even if you do not get a lock off, everything will still be private. The master bedroom is down a long hall. You should not hear them come in if you are sleeping with your door shut. We have stayed in a 2 bdrm with kids on sleeper and in-laws in 2nd bedroom and had n problems with room or privacy.

One of the reasons we bought into DVC back in '93 was to be able to bring family with us to WDW. We bring my parents with us at least once a year to enjoy the sights. We get a two BdRm lock-off because it is easier for my parents to regulate the temp. in their room, we like it cooler then they do. It is very private and you hear little noise when someone comes in late. With the living room inbetween the bedrooms it is a noise barrier. We like the two BdRm better then the GV because you do hear the noise of someone walking up the stairs and the front door is next to the master BdRm.
