Poolhopping is allowed for DVC members staying at DVC resorts reserved thru MS.
Members are supposed to call the resort ahead of time to make sure the pool is not at capacity, but DVC members are welcome to pool hop to all except SAB (BC/YC) and Uzima (AKL).
If you are staying offsite, poolhopping is not allowed. Some of the pools do check room IDs.

Add to that if you are staying at a non-DVC resort through CRO, you are not eligible for pool hopping. Must be a points stay at a DVC resort. And pool hopping not blacked out. And not any of the pools at YC, BC, BCV, AKL and AKV. Even the quiet pools at the YC/BC/BCV complex are not allowed for pool hopping.
Pool hopping is a DVC member perk for staying on points at a DVC resort. Not a membership perk like shopping, dining and recreatation discounts.
I really don't think it is going to be an issue as the pool where we plan to stay is going to be great. It may have a bit more kids than OKW and wee one can make friends and swim.
We will be back next year to OKW and I just count any trip to WDW a good one even if it is not at "home".
