right i think i have narrowed it down to 2 options

thomas cook 2 week yacht club
travelcity direct 2 week okw

both are coming out at the same price almost , what are your opinions on these resorts im thinking the deal at yacht club is really good as on the thomson and travel city direct its almost £3000 more than thomas cook quoting me

we are a family of 5 so which room , location do you think will be most suitable oh and which resort has the best pool area out of the 2

In my opinion, the Yacht Club deal is the deal. OKW does have the biggest (and recently refurbished) rooms on property, as well as a lovely languid vibe, but whilst it's categorised as a deluxe, I'd say such a classifcation is a tad dubious because it has outside, motel-style walkways rather than internal corridors, and doesn't have a decent restaurant or bar - the offerings are akin to those at a moderate. At the Yacht Club, you'd have easy access to all the signature restaurants of the Y&B, the BoardWalk and the Swan & Dolphin.

And then, of course, there's the proximity to Epcot and the Studios. You're literally steps away from Epcot's International Gateway entrance and a boat ride from the Studios. At OKW, there's a water taxi service to DTD and, although walking is a pleasant activity in its own right, it's not really a practical way of getting backwards and forwards because it takes too long, and because the walkway (which runs along the banks of the Sassagoula River) closes at dusk.

Stormalong Bay (the shared pool at the Yacht & Beach Clubs) is often feted as the best on site. I'm not sure I agree with that, but it's certainly great for kids.

If they are the same price, no hidden catches then there's no question...

Yacht Club, Yacht Club, Yacht Club!

Are you able to get free dining with both? If so I'd go for yacht club

I am the opposite - I would choose an OKW one bedroom over yacht club everytime.

We didn't enjoy stormalong bay and I value 'my space' so would choose the one bedroom.

We love OKW and the main pool is nice :goodvibes

If you can get Yacht Club, a true Deluxe resort, at the same pirce as OKW, as Deb says, it's a no-brainer. Yacht Club is, by far, the superior in terms of location, facilities, pool and amenities. If the two holidays are like-for-like, in terms of including (or not) the dining plan, tickets etc. then I would absolutely go for Yacht Club.

what is it that you would get at OKW? a studio or a one bedroom?
i'm thinking that it must be a one bedroom as i don't think they offer the studio for 5 people, but i might be wrong..

if it's a 1 bedroom, then i would take OKW hands down over YC...

if however, it's a studio, then i would take the YC over OKW

We had to make this exact decision!

We're taking our nieces next August (15, 12 and 9) and originally for the space alone we had settled on OKW for a one bed villa.

However, the Yacht and Beach Club's have always been my dream resorts, and as this was a big once in a lifetime holiday, I was being a little grumpy so and so over the fact we couldn't afford a Villa there!

We worked it out with Travel City, and it's definitely more expensive (by about £1,000 or so) but we went with the Yacht Club in a 5 person room.

It's a beautiful resort, with the best pool out of any of the Disney hotels.... and the location is amazing. We were worried about space, but in all honesty, if we want a break we're going to go sit by the pool, not sit in our room watching TV.... the room will only be for sleeping, so we're not going to be that bothered by the space!

Go for the one you like the most!

If you can get the price somewhere similar either your OKW quote is way overpriced or you have done really well on the YC deal.
Are they a similar sized room? Maybe OKW is a 1 bed villa, YC a std room(sounds like it to me if prices are similar)

Just priced up TCD for 2 weeks next summer (based on 3 adults)
OKW £6676
YC £7955
£1,279 more

That should be about the difference, if I goto Disney.co.uk and get room only costs there is a similar difference, a 1 bed villa would be nearer the price of YC.
£2,268 OKW
£3,682 YC
£1,414 more

OKW 1 bed would beat a std YC room, I also like the quiet pool at OKW some days we have it to ourselves, the main pool is too busy for me so I certainly wouldn't enjoy YC pool. I think it would have to be OKW for me but I can see why there is a difference in opinion, hard choice.

this is coming from somebody that hasn't stayed at either but looked at both while there. I am in the OKW court. I love the feel of it and the boat to DTD. I think the Yacht club is beautiful but it just always seems so hectic. Agreed it has good boat links there but the bus is dreadful (so many stops), but fine if you have a car.
Def OKW for me with its laid back feel and choice of pools..

the yacht club deal does seem too good to be true , !! if anybody fancys having a look and seeing if i have missed something !!

its 24rd sept 2013 2 week , 2 adult , 3 children 7,5,4 flight , hotel and transfers £5374 we will then add our tix to get the dining plan

OK, I have had a look and that is the price I am getting but it doesn't say anything about adding the dining plan or tickets. Now I'm fairly sure you must be able to add tickets (since nearly all TAs sell tickets to the park - at an incredibly over-inflated price usually) but there is still no mention of the dining plan (either free or otherwise).

i messaged them on the live chat box, the tickets are in the extras tab and the dining plan can be added free but must be completed over the phone i have quoted tickets at around £1100

do you think that seems a good price then? same dates on travel city and thomson are over £8000!!

£5074 in a studio or upgrade £600 to one bed

TCD with your tix
£ 6,343.61 OKW (lets you book a studio:confused3)
£ 9,949.06 YC

I also looked at TC and couldn't add tickets, the tickets available in extras seem to be a seperate company but maybe all owned by TC?
If they have assured you you can add them with free dining then it does seem a good deal, just make sure you can get the free DDP as there is no mention of it anywhere I can see.

Don't forget Quidco if you do book, £35 cashback http://www.quidco.com/thomas-cook/

Except if the dining plan has to be booked over the phone, she wouldn't be able to use Quidco.

Bex, I would be very wary of booking something that does not mention the dining plan at all anywhere on the website (I have looked and cannot see it). If you are going to book, make sure you get something in writing (like a quote) first, detailing what is included as their terms and conditions will more than likely mean that you can't get a refund of any deposit if it turns out you haven't booked what you think you have.

I understood she was booking online for the holiday then ringing to add tickets & DDP, maybe I read it wrong?

I agree, double check & triple check you are getting everything you think you are.

I agree. Call them and ask them to email you the quote first and confirm that you get the DDP. It is odd to me that you have to add tickets separately when tix and DDP are linked on the package (no tickets, no DDP).

I suggest phoning and giving your email address as if you just email you could wait ages for them to reply. The sales person on the phone wants the sale to go through so if she/he is savvy, you should get your email as quickly as they can possibly get it to you. I hate waiting for things, but I dislike worrying and being uncertain far more than waiting a while for reassurance.

£5074 in a studio or upgrade £600 to one bed

OWK studios only sleep 4 - they have 2 queen beds and Disney will not you sleep 5 due to fire codes.

You would need a one bedroom which has a king bed in the bedroom then a queen sleeper sofa and single sleeper chair in the living room.
You would also have a full kitchen plus laundry room.

Yacht Club would be 2 queen beds plus a day bed.

Like others I would want to get the quote in writing on Yacht Club clearly showing the full price including DDP & tickets. Part of the T&Cs of the DDP (both bought & free) is that accommodation, tickets & DP have to be purchased together.
