Hi: Just looking at the pics and wondering about the tv in the kitchen area of the one bedroom unit . Is it the older type tv, or the new flat screen? Not that we are watching alot of tv though,

Deb.

I'm in an OLW 1-br right now. (building 38). Neither TV is a flat screen.

I don't know if any of the more recently rehabbed units have a flat screen though. Right now, buildings 41-44 (as well as Turtle Pond pool) are closed for rehab.

Thanks for the answer.

Can you tell me if there are any flowers blooming this time of year. Also do you smell the bus fumes from your balcony or patio. My daughter gets severe migraines from fumes.

What are the quiet pools like, if you have seen them? The whole resort looks beautiful to me.

Thanks,

Deb.

Not speaking for John, but it is almost impossible for bus fumes to be around bldg 38, it is one of the farthest bldgs from a road that a bus would use, and the balconies/patios overlook the golf course. The only think you may get would be some fumes if they are mowing the golf course.

Yes, there are some flowers in bloom. They have annuals planted in various places, and some of the flowering bushes are blooming (azalea's ??).

Actually, building 38 pretty much overlooks Bonnet Creek Pkwy. No bus fumes, but a little street noise. Nothing serious though. And from here (3rd floor) you can get a pretty good view of the Epcot fireworks.

Only went to the main pool, since my favorite pool (Turtle Pond) is temporarily closed for rehab. The water temperature was perfect.

We were in BLDG 47 last week, no flat screens in a 2BR unit. No bus fumes on any patios because all of the patios/balconies are on the back of the buildings and the buses are on the roads that are across the parking area from the fronts of buildings....if you are really concerned about the fume issue and you seem to be, just request a building farthest from a bus stop (and that is one request I am SURE they could grant since most people want to be CLOSE to the bus stops!). Avoiding the area around the hospitality house would help too since buses tend to collect there and the DME buses pull up and idle while they load and unload as well. And I assume since the bus fume issue is big that you will have a car to drive to parks because loading and unloading from buses and waiting at bus stops is the main time I smell the fumes.

At OKW, they plant seasonal flowers by the entrance.

These plants are usually in pots in the ground, and are replaced (I assume moved back to a greenhouse) when they start to look bad.

Throughout the resort there are many azaleas, spider lilies, flowering trees, etc. They all bloom at different times so there is generally something in bloom all the time!

In so far as I know, OKW has "traditional" TV's not flat screen TV's.

If you're away from a main roadway with a bus stop, you shouldn't smell any bus fumes.

We were there last week and used both the main pool and the quiet pool near building 56. Both were great! The quiet pool was as warm as bath water, the main pool was a bit cooler but just fine even on a day with temperatures in the mid 70s.

We were recently at OKW and never noticed bus fumes and we were also right across from a quiet pool was that absolutely perfect. We just about the only ones using it all week.

Also, there weren't any flat screens in our unit either.

Hi: Can Sarcasticblonde tell me what the quiet pools are like? Do they have shady areas around to just sit and relax.

I have been looking for a picture of the quiet pools of okw but cannot find one.

Thanks,

Deb.

Well, the one that we were across from had a lot of palm trees around the border of the pool area. There was plenty of seating (about 20 lounge chairs for sunbathing and 5 or so tables with umbrellas and chairs). Most of the loungers are in the sun for obvious reasons. There was also a hot tub, soda machines and a sandy playground area. It's right off the golf course area, and it's pretty enclosed by the palm trees, so it's quite quiet and serene.

Unfortunately, I do not have any photos of the pool area itself. Just shots of us posing silly for each other on the lounge chairs.

EDIT: Wanted to add that if you look at the map in the post below, we were in building 54 (South Pointe bus stop). The quiet pool is just north of our building.

There is a lot of mature veggetation around everything at OKW. Also, each of the 3 quiet pools have umbrella tables as well. We have stayed in most areas of the resort, and I honestly don't remember smelling bus fumes anywhere except possibly at the bus stop. All of the patios are away from the roads, since the views are all out the sides away from the parking and roadways.

Of the three quiet pools, many prefer Turtle Pond Road pool, and that one will be least likely to have bus fumes too, since the buses just make the turn around the circle and not right near any buildings.
Here is the OKW map:
