Let me first say I'm not a DVC member (were ready to buy at HH last November until we found out the property wasn't beachfront ), but recently I became aware that they are selling OKW rentals on Ebay. How legitimate is this? Are they deals? Just wondering since I'm trying to talk DH into another WDW trip and would like to stay at DVC property.

board on this website. They have many people renting their points. I think it would be better to go with this group than those on ebay. Have you thought about buying at Vero Beach? They are beach front and you could still trade into another WDW location when you wanted to. We own at OKW and VB beach for that very reason. Wanted the 11 month window for both. Good luck. The DVC locations are very nice and if you get a 1 bedroom or larger they have a full kitchen and laundry facilities. That makes them great for those times when you want to eat in and do laundry too!

I looked at the auctions you mentioned; this is just my opinion but it seems that the seller's starting price is almost $12 per point, which is kind of expensive. Have you looked on the Rent/Trade forum here? Most people rent their points for $10/point; sometimes you can find them for less.

Thanks for doing the math for me. That's what I was wondering.

We live in Pennsylvania and Hilton Head would be as far as we would want to drive. Unfortunately Florida would mean the added expensive of airline tickets and we just can't afford that every year. :(

dtuleya,

I just wanted to add that even though that particular seller is renting their DVC for what I would consider a high amount, it doesn't mean the transaction isn't legitimate. I've read posts on this forum from DVC members who have said that they rented on Ebay and got anywhere from $16-$20 per point. A lot of people don't know about DISboards and the fact that there's a Rent/Trade forum here, which is unfortunate, because I wouldn't pay that much money to rent points.

P.S. I'm just noticing that there are quite a few DVC OKW auctions going on at Ebay, so I'm not sure which one you looked at.

Just a comment on HHI resort. It is not beach front , but is in a fabulous harbor setting with beautiful views. The beach house with our beach access (and 2nd pool and restaurant/bar)is very close(1.5 miles or less) some folks bike there, or drive(we usually do this) or take the shuttle. Wehave been 6 times and just added on points in fall at HHI to get the 11 month window. If you have seen the resort..excuse my post, but if you have not, I would take a look. You will not be disappointed.

Well, there are some circumstances that I haven't mentioned. My parents go along with us and due to severe arthritis (three hip replacements) my mom can't walk distances. But the real kicker is that she won't stay anywhere except ocean front properties. Since they contribute financially to our vacations we'd like to try and please everyone, so we'll just be doing our yearly jaunts to Surfside Beach, SC for now.

Having sold rental stays on ebay myself, I have recieved anywhere from $12.00 a point up to a high of $23.00 a point. Great place for sellers to rent and get a fair return on their investment. The rent/trade board is good for owners who want to give away their investment and great for renters who want to rent at $10 or less.
