Do you remember what year they stopped including the park passes with your DVC purchase? I was just trying to remember the first time we looked at DVC and I know my husband wouldn't buy because the passes were not included.
We have a pic of the family in a hot air balloon that they took that day, but there's no year on it. Maybe 1993? 1994?

Late 1995 or early 1996 if my memory serves me correctly. Members who bought prior had tickets available at stays up to end 1999. They stopped the incentive prior to BWV sales.

When we made our purchase in April, 1997, purchases at OKW didn't include passes, but purchases at Vero did - only when staying at OKW.

I believe those who bought early had the tickets included until 1999.

I bought in 95 and had the free park passes. They were good until the end of the year 1999 if I remember correctly. I think they stopped giving them to people some time in early 96.

We have the hot air balloon photo, too -- somewhere in this house! I also wish we had bought back then when prices were CHEAP! We ultimately paid $84 per point. I think our tour was in December 1993, because I was pregnant with my daughter. Tickets were promised through 1999, I believe.

When I spole to my guide, he indicated that the number of passes given was equal to half of the maximum occupants in the room. So, in other words, if you were staying in a 2 bedroom, you would receive four passes. Two passes for a 1 bedroom etc. Is this true?

Yes - number of passes were dependant on size room reserved and for a one bedroom you got two, two bedroom four, GV got 6 or 8 I think. Donot know what a studio got as I have never been in one, spoiled, I know but it must of been two. Anyone remember?

The GV got six, I got them many times.

There was a discrepency in the begining.....I can't recall what it was. Some literature said one thing and some said another. I had both the things I am speaking about.....it may have been 8 passes for the GV...I don't think so. It may have been one pass for a studio, but I don't think that was it either. I think it was four for both the one bedroom and two bedroom, but I am really not sure.

Anyone have any idea what I am talking about?

Studio and a one bedroom was 2, 2 bedroom was 4, and gV was 6. I remember buying a 5th ticket all the time for my guest in a two bedroom where we only got 4. I considered the amount to be normal capacity for these units. giving 2 people on a king and one person each on any other bed. I never considered the living room an area for any one to sleepi in. A lot has changed since then with the attitude that I read here on this site regarding how many people are staying in certain size units. At any rate I consider myself very lucky to get the passes for over 5 years free. It saved my thousands in ticket costs.

The amount of passes 2/2/4/6 is correct. But, if you had fewer people than passes you didn't get the full amount. For example, if one person stayed in a studio they got one pass. 3 people in a 2 bedroom got 3 passes not 4.

Very early on you also got 2 passes when using points at other WDW hotels. They eventually put a stop to that.

And it's true that the passes with a Vero purchase continued longer than purchasing at OKW. That's part of why I have a Vero add-on. ;)

Also, with the free passes, they did not include admisstion to The Animal Kingdom when it opened. The free passes only included the three existing parks at the time. I remember going right after AK opened and we had to buy one day passes to visit that park.

When we first looked in November 1995, our guide told us to buy soon if we were serious as the pass offer ended on 12/31/95. We dilly dallied until May 1996 when we finally bought (without passes) :(

Studio got two. It actually depended on the number of beds.
Studios have two beds, one bedrooms have two beds, two bedrooms have 4 beds and GVs have 6.

EXCEPT during Hurricane Floyd in 1999. they let us in to AK with our passes.

Hot Air Balloon photo, yes we got the park tickets through 1999.When we bought it was Disney Vacation Club and not called OKW.We bought in Feb.1993.:wave2:

We always borrow points from the next year and did that in 1999, they still let us have the free passes even though we were staying on 2000 use year points. That was true Disney magic for us.
