We are going to OKW next June for our family reunion(13 of us) and want to have a Luau party picnic. Is there any picnic areas that one could use for picnicing and having some group games at OKW? I thought maybe turtle pond area had some picnic tables -- is that right and are there any other spots that might work. We are organizing the Luau ourselves. Thanks, Candace

Turtle Pond pool has picnic tables, grills, shuffleboard, and, oh yeah, a pool.
Tennis courts are a short walk away. :thumbsup2

Are there any picnic areas for a group near the main pool? I have asked for rooms near the hospitality house. Thanks, Candace

There is an area beyond the "big sand pails" child area that is used for parties. However, I think you'd have to get Disney involved because I don't think there are grills or tables. There is a sandy area and kind of bleacher/amphtheater seating -- doing this from memory so things could have changed.

What a great idea! It sounds like a lot of fun :thumbsup2 I love planning these types of events...Let us know how it goes :cheer2:

I am pretty sure SouthPoint pool area also has a grill and places to sit near a small playground which is poolside...in that area you will not be close to HH but it is a wonderful location for lots of other reasons!

I've got a couple pictures of the picnic area at Turtle Pond in one of my Webshots folders.

I had a small "family reunion" at Old Key Wst over the Memorial Day 2005 weekend to celebrate a "milestone birthday."

The pics of that area start on page 3 of the album. (We also did a dessert Illuminations Party the night before.)

We were concerned about being able to "snag" the tables... especially on Memorial Day - but we had no problem.

Picnic at Tutle Pond Pool Area

I'm not sure any of the grill areas are large enough to allow one group this size to monopolize the entire area for the picnic tables alone. I think Turtle Pond is the only one that could accommodate this size in this manner if you combine the pool side area with a couple of tables. But you would not be able to reserve the area so you'd have to take your chances on availability at the time you wanted it. Maybe you could rent a pontoon boat or make arrangements for Olivia's.

didn't know if you had someplace to get groceries but we used gardengrocer.com and they were prompt and reasonably close price wise to our normal store. they deliver right to your room!
