OKW Housekeeping-How do they clean?

Reading the posts regarding poor housekeeping at OKW has made me wonder - How do they actually clean certain areas?

Shower stalls - due to size, they must have to actually get in the stall to reach and clean the walls, wouldn't they? How do they rinse off cleaning products with no hand held shower? How do they clean the shower floor? When we have had full housekeeping, I am pretty sure the inside of the shower was not touched.

Whirlpool tubs - These are huge at OKW so no way to reach across from the outside to clean the inside of tub. Do they have to climb in or what?

I don't recall ever seeing a vacuum cleaner with the housekeeping carts. Do they just use the uprights in each unit? If so, with no attachments, there would be no way to get into narrow spots or to vacuum baseboards, etc.

It would be interesting to see exactly how staff are trained to clean the various areas.

Cleaning at OKW is no different than cleaning at any resort or hotel room. Some Mousekeepers clean better than others and some resorts seem to expect more of their employees.

Like any business, some employees care about the quality of their work and others don't.

It's our responsibility to contact Mousekeeping/Management with problems and to follow up with the DVC Member Satisfaction Team.

I have been in some OKW units where things were spotless and some where the shower was never touched. This last trip, I was fairly certain the shower door had not been so much as wiped off since the last refurb! I've also been in units where the left over soap from the previous occupant was left in the shower. Now, I do have to say that showers aren't as much a concern to me as the stove and fridge though.

On recent stay at OKW, the studio appeared to be well cleaned and nicely prepared, even with towel animals,, which are fairly rare for OKW. But then I dropped something and had to look under the bed. There was a large family of dust bunnies.

Other than the bunnies, the room was fine.

Staying in 4622. Room CLEAN...except master tub..long hair sitting on top of back of tub, running the dishwashing soap through the jacuzzi system revealed all sorts of yuckies... Tub is missing one stainless steel cover on jet. reported at 0800 via the callcenter, engineering was there by 0900. They have to find a cover so she said it maybe this afternoon which is fine with us as long as it is fixed.

NOW...when we checked in yesterday, my only request was for a 2brm with softer beds...the front desk ladies literally began laughing and looking at each other!!! They said "All" of mattresses are now "Firm" and boy they are not kidding...like rocks... Knowing this was an issue, I requested nine eggcrates for the seven of us, Three were waiting for us, and the other six never made it here. I called the call center and was told that they were "out" of eggcrates and were looking at getting some from SSR. Okay...5 hours later, still no word, called back was told their were no more eggcrates available!! and that they would try to get us some in the morining...

If that doesn't SCREAM "someone bought the wrong mattress" I don't know what does...

other than that things are absoulutly magical...we have a great canal view, kids love everything and DW now wants to move back to Florida:lmao:

All hotels use uprights, so yes things in corners and baseboards sometimes get missed.

As to the beds, different opinions, just like most things. Many like a firm mattress.

Regarding the mattresses, it seems to me that a firm mattress is at least "fixable" via the egg crates. There is no fix for a mattress that is too soft and many people prefer to have a firm mattress.

It also stands to reason that a firm mattress will only get softer as it ages.

Chuck, Chuck, Chuck. That's the new more cost effective "towel animal".

There is "firm" and then there are the OKW mattresses!! Never in my travels have I encountered such a hard mattress, if kids cannot sleep because of it you know it's hard!! and then to NOT bring requested EggCrates which were requested at check in, 8 hours later and then 2 hours after that I get a call stating "there are no more eggcrates" and "we can bring you some in the AM" and then NOT bring them is VERY BAD SERVICE.

So I called this evening when we got back from TL at 730 only to be told they were out of Eggcrates again!!! Anger set in, and a bit sternly I requested a call back from a supervisor or manager. the call center lady just called me back and said the manager is busy with another customer, but they found two eggcrates, and will bring the other two in the AM. Now seems to me if a place as HUGE as Disney runs out of Eggcrate, perhaps they bought the wrong mattresses!! We will see when or if they come tonight..

I am confused as to why you need 9 eggcrates, how many beds do you have. Disney probably allows only one per bed, so I really think asking for more than that, is going to be something they may not be able to deliver.

They are probably out because they truly do not have one for every bed at the resorts.

I found the beds at OKW fairly comfortable and not hard as a rock.

I'm sorry that you are having such a bad time. I wouldn't stay at OKW next vacation and take the chance that they will have enough eggcrates. Disney is suppose to be a fun place, don't let this upset you. :goodvibes

I have 3 queen beds, the crates are singles so only about 34-38" wide, they are about 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick, so one under each of the kids and two under my wife and I. Compare these bricks to those at AKV, or even a motel 6 and these lose..I understand some like firm but this is a bit over the top. and my biggest issue is that I was told last night that we would have them this AM and no call, no crate, no nothing...

We really love OKW, we were stationed in the real KW from 99-03 before being transferred to DC...This resort is GREAT!!! I was hesitant about the beds, but was counting on the eggcrates, just as MANY other diser's have piled them up to make the flintrock company of bedrock mattresses soft..our next stay is a AKV in december, so hopefully OKW will get the mattresses they have at AKV or any other resort by the time we come back here next spring...

Disney is the best place on earth....we would never let this bum us out, but sleep is very important, especially here:goodvibes...no worries though, here till friday, then over to shades of green for the weekend, followed by a week at SSR!!! Nothing can get me down this week:cool1::cool1:

OKW s the only place I have ever heard complaints about the beds...even the front desk ladies said these mattresses are "VERY" firm

Ok, understand now, with them being singles.

It is very doubtful OKW will be replacing mattresses anytime soon. Those are new. We slept fine on them last week.

Its all good now, mousekeeping brought us the eggcrates and engineering fixed the missing jet cover on the tub, and I slept great...now it is off to DHS for RD:cool1:
