OKW Hospitality House Changed???

Hi all!
We just got back from our first stay at OKW. We had booked the HH category but upon checking in, we were told that it did NOT include the buildings in the 20's. Instead the CM circled on our map buildings: 11,12,13,14,15,16,62,63,64. I asked two or three times if he could possibly be wrong and he was adamant that those are the buildings. When we left, I pulled up allears and again the buildings listed were in the teens and twenties for HH category. Long story short--we were placed in a drab little studio (I hate to say) #1416. It was very dark because it was missing the front window by the door and had a horrible musty smell. Since my son has very bad allergies, we kindly asked to be moved and they were super nice and understanding. But we were told that this was the last studio in the HH category and we would have to be further away from the main pool. We didn't care we just wanted a room that didn't smell horrid and were placed in building 51 in a lovely studio. All in all, it was a great trip and we really enjoyed OKW. But I did learn that I preferred being away from the HH and I agree that the studios might be a little less to our liking in certain areas.

Buildings 23-26 are also in the HH booking category. We were in bldg 25 on our May trip as an HH category booking.

I never book HH category. I was in building 62 this past May. I was told buildings 11,12,13,14,23,24,25,26 are HH category buildings.

Can I ask a dumb question what is the HH booking catagory? I stayed in building 46 and loved it but I keep reading about requesting HH?

Is HH worth getting. We waitlisted for it and it came through but I have been second guessing that. We want to be close to the pool and stuff for the kids but its not a MUST. I'd actually kinda prefer a refurbed room. Since its not a difference point wise what would you do? I don't want a nasty, smelly room thats loud.

If it helps we are in a 2bd and have 3 kids.

We were in building 19 which is right by the bus stop and quiet pool. I thought it was great non HH place to be.

As this was our first stay, I have to say that my first impression of the HH category was not great. The 11,12,13,14 buildings were a bit dark/overgrown/snakey looking for me. We were eventually placed in the South Point area and loved it. Also, I thought the buildings in the 40's looked great. However, we did have our car. If you don't have a car, the HH category still might be important for you. But the bus service was really awesome.

Also, thanks for all the responses regarding the booking category. I still have my map that the CM circled with his version of what HH category was and I guess I'll just chalk it up to maybe his inexperience. (Although he didn't look inexperienced.) I had wondered if they changed some of the buildings due to the construction on the bus stop or something to keep people from walking across a busy street to catch the bus at Peninsular Road.

Anyway, we will return to OKW again, but I would definitely not choose HH category.

They may be using 62,63 and 64 for overflow if they overbooked HH, or if a HH room had to go out of service. It may also be that bldgs 23 to 26 were out of service to start the rehab, or other scheduled event. Former Presidents have stayed there, so it may be an easier area for high security for "at risk" visitors.

I believe this stands for Hospitality House which is the area close to the main pool, Olivias, Good to Go ect. Many people who don't have their own cars prefer this area as they can walk to it easily if they are staying in the HH catagory villas.

We always stay HH. We have stayed in buildings 23,24,and 11.

I had a confirmed HH room and was assigned to bldg 26 which I didn't think was HH but was assured by the CM that bldgs 23, 24, 25,and 26 were part of the HH category.

Those of us who love buildings 45 dn 46 would never book in the HH catagory. Why book HH when you can have that lovely view in 46?

I disagree that you "need" a car for buildings in the 40's. We love the South Point area, and the walk to HH from 45 and 46 is is a quick 5-6 minutes. If you don't want to walk and aren't in a hurry, just catch the first bus to anywhere, and it will drop you off at HH before it leaves the resort. That might not be true right now while the HH is being renovated, but that's temporary. The Turtle Pond buildings can be quite a ways from the bus stop, but still not worth driving a car to HH.

For those who don't care if they have an extra door to the bathroom, HH catagory isn't all that bad, and we have booked there for a winter trip when we don't care if we are near a quiet pool or not. Over all though, it is our least favorite area. I agree with Deb & Bill....South Point and Miller's Road are our favs!

I totally agree. I love Turtle Pond and Miller's Rd. I have never requested any area for our 18+ stays at OKW, but have never had any issues. We liked Building 14 the least, don't like to wait at HH bus stop. Like Miller's rd the best, easy walk to main pool and marin, but nice quiet pool area and easy bus stop.

remember when they close the HH bus stop and told guests to go to Miller road instead of the closer Peninsular road.

is the HH bus stop still closed - or have they finished the work on the luggage area for bell services.

I think we have 2 different topics going here. HH = Hospitality House booking category. HA = Handicap Accessible room.

The HA rooms with roll-in shower do not have a shower door. They have a tiled, sloped floor and a shower curtain. Some folks complain about water all over the bathroom floor. We have found that if you angle the shower head away from the curtain, it is not a problem. You can also put a towel on the floor just outside the curtain if you want to catch any rogue spray.

The OP mentioned building 15 as being HH category. Can someone please verify for me that it isn't? We've stayed in that building and loved it. We also love building 18. Although we've never stayed in 19, it's right by a pool, so I thought it might be noisy.
