OKW Hosp. House booking Is it or Isnt It?

I booked our 1 bed @ OKW for June y-day.

Today I called back to book close to HH category. I asked the rep if they were booking and was it available. She made it a point to reiterate that it was not GUARANTEED She said it's not guaranteed, but it will be noted.

I told her I was confused. Is it a booking category or is it not? We wont have a car and if I cant be close to HH then I'd rather stay at SSR. I just thought I would save 20 points and get a larger 1 bed since I am taking a friend.

I understand if there is construction or something, but that's the case with all booking categories, right?

Are they actually booking you into a HH unit or are they just noting it on your ressie? Can this request be overbooked?

I guess I dont understand what the big deal is when MS can book Boardwalk View, 2 Queens at BCV and other categories but at OKW you can request it but you shouldnt be disappointed if you dont get it.

My OKW confirm says--Studio near Hosp. House

My BWV confirm says--Studio Boardwalk View

Based on that, I would say HH is a booking category. I asked and the MS rep. said, "yes, the HH category is available for your dates"--she did not say "I'll note your request."

I have never heard of any booking categories at OKW before. Maybe things have changed but we always request a certain few buildings. I don't remember it being noted on our confirmation.

Actually I just looked at our current confirmation and it does say "request building ??? and ??? views and locations are not guaranteed"

Never heard of HH being a category though and I rarely frequent the DIS boards anymore to keep up with the changes.

When I called to book for next Christmas, I was offered HH category by the CM at MS. I ended up not booking there, but it was offered. This past Nov. our GV was a HH category room and we were in bldg. 25. (just over the bridge).

Disney's Old Key West Resort debuts new room categories

As reported in the fall 2007 edition of your Member magazine, Disney Vacation Club is creating special room categories at Disney's Old Key West Resort to identify the limited number of Vacation Homes located near the Hospitality House.

The new categories include Vacation Homes in buildings 11-14 and 23-26. (In order to accommodate special-needs reservations, buildings 62-64 are not included in the Hospitality House category.) This new designation is designed to help Members secure this high-demand location based on availability at the time of reservation.

Member Services Cast Members have converted current reservations into the new room categories, and Members now are able to book accommodations in these categories. Note that required Vacation Points do not increase for accommodations in these categories.

I recently made a reservation and was told the only 2 BR available was in the near HH category which I took but told the CM to note that I would prefer South Point. This past week I made a reservation for a studio and the CM was very careful to say that she couldn't give me the HH category to which I said great because I don't want it. It was definitely a booking category with the two CMs I spoke with.

Maybe the word "guarantee" scared her. She could have explained it better instead of jumping on the defensive. I did say that, but how else do you describe a booking category? If I want 2 Queens at BCV is that not a guarantee or at least a really strong affirmation of what I will receive?

To me, if I book a certain category and don't receive it, then they should have a better explanation than "oh well we dont guarantee anything" Our points should provide us more reassuarance than that.

Im no front desk tyrant, but you should have a reasonable expectation to receive what you booked.

The booking category is fairly new at OKW and I wasnt offered it when I first booked, but then we decided to skip the car so I called back and requested it.

I called last week to book our Jan '09 stay and was asked my MS if we wanted to request HH area. I declined since we like staying away from all the action.

I just called to add it to my existing reservation for July and the lady said she had to check on availability and she looked and then said she could do it. She had to modify my reservation and is sending me a new confirmation. She told me it is a seperate booking category now.
