OKW here now

We arrived on Friday. We had reserved a 1 bdr near the hosp house. Did online checkin and requested a ground floor near bus stop. We are in bldg 14 ground floor and directly straight across from the bus stop at the front lobby. Our balcony is overlooking the golf course. This is our 3rd stay on our dvc points but the first in a 1 bdr and we love all the space. The only draw back is the layout of the bath room door. We wish there a separate entrance from the bdr. When we got here our room was ready. Spotless and 2 towel animals. I love them. We love the washer/dryer in the room. We are eating at Olivia's tonight and are planning to go the Sunset Celebration in a few min's. Right now we are just chillin' in the room. Love the wifi. Crowds are bad yet. Altho TSM was closed for a short time today.

You need a building numbered 30 or higher to get the door between the laundry room to the bathroom.

I'm having OKW withdrawals. We haven't been there in a few trips, and I can't wait to stay there again soon.

We have been in a one bedroom in building 17 without the extra bathroom door and in building 46 with the extra bathroom door and it was so much better having the door I love Old Key West and can't wait to be back there in April

And here is the DVC "spin" on making those villas with only 1 bathroom door more desirable....Make it a "special" category for HH, so all those "special" reservations get stuck with the design flaw!

Frankly, I see no reason for anyone to NEED to be near HH. It's got lots of negatives as far as I'm concerned.

Frankly, I'm a bit surprised when they did the remodel that they didn't correct that problem in the 11-29 buildings. Since it was supposed to be a 90% redo, you would think they could have at least done that!

We will be at OKW for the first time next week. Can't wait to check out a new resort although I am missing Beach Club this year. We requested HH area thinking that it would be nice to be near the amenities such as getting a drink refill before going back to our room or going to the pool. What is the Sunset Celebration? Are there other things going on at OKW that we need to know about? Thanks and have a great trip!

The sunset celebration took place outside of community hall and was sorta like a dance party. They passed out beads to everybody and some that danced they passed out Sm beach balls we stayed approx 45 mins and it was still going on

We LOVE Old Key West Resort!!! We used to make a mad dash at 7 months out to book at the Beach Club, but one stay at Old Key West, and thats where my DH always wants to stay now- We are arriving on Thanksgiving and staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge for 3 nights and then switching over to Old Key West for 7 nights!! So looking forward to this!! Old Key West just feels like VACATION to me- I really love the pool area- so relaxing and alot of fun to watch the pool party in the afternoons- the two beds are a HUGE plus-the boat ride to Downtown Disney-its so beautiful at night during the holidays because people who stay along the river put up christmas lights. I absolutely cannot wait to get there!!!!!!!!! ps: The hot tub is HUGE !!!

The weather is beautiful today. Yesterday we got a small shower while at MK yes we were there on a Monday. but overall it wasn't bad. We had ressies at Tony's at 7:10 pm and we were done by around 8 and had plenty of time to get up on the train station viewing deck for ELP and wishes. Perfect view. Loved the memories and you photo projection on the castle.

Today was spent at DAK we left after the parade to come back to the room. DH hurt his shoulder somehow this morning drying off from the shower and he and ds was already here. DD and I stayed for the parade. The floats are different from last yrs Jingle Jungle parade and were very cute.

Tonight we have ressies at 50's PTC and can't wait to see the Osborne lights.

We love OKW! Got back 2 weeks ago from a 1 night studio then off to DCL Dream then 3 more nights at POR (it was Food and Wine-everything was sold out). I liked POR but just feel so much more relaxed at OKW-we don't even have points at OKW. We enjoy staying there-I would love to get a 1 bedroom just to see how much space it has.

We will be there in about a month...can't wait. OKW is our home resort, but we've only stayed there once...the last visit. We are also stuck on OKW now...just LOVED it so much!!! We were in a 1BR in building 46 or something like that (turtle pond area). This time we'll be in a 2BR in the HH area. I had no idea there was a difference in the laundry/bathroom layout with the door. It will be interesting to see. I liked the layout of building 46. And the renovations weren't done when we were there, so I can't wait to see those. Have fun!!!!

Oh I love reading this post...makes one feel all warm and fuzzy on a cold rainy night in Ohio!!!

We arrive for 4 night stay at OKW on 1-1-12....our room this time is only a studio but I am thrilled to just be going down for my birthday.

I sure hope the good weather lasts....I will keep praying to the Sun God or is it Goddess??? LOL...

We love Olivia's. The 1 bedroom was sure spacious. I loved being able to do laundry each night when I got home I was able to just relax from being stuck in the car all day on Friday. We didn't check out until almost 10:30 am. We just didn't want to leave. I left the dishwasher running and picked up a few snacks at Couch Flats and my ds wanted more french toast so dh went with him to get it which was gonna leave us 4 cs. Just then a man, woman and 2 kids walked up and had planned to share drinks, etc and pay oop til my husband said I'll get that for you. Of course I know this is a no no but it was so nice to be able to share and that family was very appreciative. DH also had to explain these cs were going to be wasted. Normally we would have used these but we ate at Beaches and Cream and paid oop since we had our ts planned and didn't want to use one here.

All these posts are making me want to return, too! OKW is our home resort, and our recent trip Sep-Oct was the first one that we didn't stay there AT ALL. We did 2 nights at BLT, then 7 nights each at VWL and BCV. Told DH, from now on, we must stay at "home" at least part of our trip. I really love OKW.
