OKW GV questions

I'm trying to plan a mini family reunion next year at OKW. My little sister has realized that I have enough points by banking--wonder where she learned all about that as she looked at the guide book briefly--to stay in a GV next year. She suggested we do a GV to have nicer rooms. Here is my dilemma, my dad's wife can't do stairs due to her back problems but she cannot stay in a HC room as it causes her to have to bend more where her back is fused and she cannot get up on/down from the toilet without help because of her back if it's a HC bathroom. Are there ANY GV on the 1st floor or in the new buildings where she can take the elevator up to our room? At this point a HC GV is not capable. If she goes to a wheel chair full time then that changes the mix but at this point we aren't there yet so she does deserve some independence. My sister also asked about lockers at the parks. I know they have them but can you go back in/out of them throughout the day or is it a "once" type of thing?

There is a GV in buildling 48 with ground floor access and building 63 also has elevator access to the GV in that building.

There are no OKW GV's all on one floor however. (BWV does have some). All OKW GV's have the master bedroom, living room and kitchen on the first floor and the other bedrooms on the second floor. Except for the exception noted (building 48) all other OKW-GV's are found with main access on the second floor of the building- up a flight of stairs to reach the main floor of the villa. Building 63 does have elevator access to the GV main floor, but not to the second floor of the villa.

Doc thanks. Are both of these "non" HC GVs? I can easily put my dad and his wife in the master bedroom on the "1st" floor of the GV as long as she doesn't have to go up stairs. The rest of us can stay on the 2nd floor.

I am not sure about this, but I would assume that the Grand Villa that is located on the Ground Floor as well as the one accessed by elevator would probably be HCA... Maybe someone here who has stayed in one or the other can confirm this.

We stayed in the GV in building 63 on the left side as we came out of the elevator--I'm sorry I can't remember the number. It was HC with the roll in shower in the MB.

I can't help with the GV question, but I know about lockers!

Yes, you can get into and out of them as many times as you want during the day - you will have a key that you get from the desk. And keep your receipt - if you go from one park to another, just show your receipt and you'll be able to get a locker at the second park without paying any more $. (Just like parking.)

I'm not sure if these are all HC accessible or not- but they are the only GV's where the main floor of the villa is accessible without having to climb stairs. I know none of the other GV's are HC accessible, since they all are accessed from the second floor without elevator accessibility.

Though not as nice as staying at a GV, you could reserve the combination of a 2 bedroom + a 1 bedroom for only slightly more points as a GV. While not as convenient as a Grand Villa for the entire party, it does open up a wider range of locations for you and member services to choose from.

This way , you can request on your reservation "1st floor only, non-handicaped due to difficulty climbing stairs and bending (medical necessity)" , at least for the room your dad's wife will be staying in. Medical requests on reservations are usually given first priority. You could then request that the other unit on the reservation be an adjacent unit, or at least in the same building.
In addition, by not specifying that you need a GV in the reservation, this also opens up the possibility of requesting requesting buildings 62 & 64, which I believe have elevator access. This way the party could stay on an upper floor if you so desired.

Thanks for all the help!! I will mention to my little sister the lockers are for the entire day which will make her VERY happy. I'll also pass on the room issue. I may end up doing as suggested and using more rooms instead of a GV to avoid the HCA room for our one member at this time. I hadn't thought of that one to be honest. I know my little sister has her heart set on the GV after looking on the website!! My dad and his wife have stayed at VWL with me but there was no issue as we were on the 1st floor but there are elevators there. I'll just have to wait and see. I'll let everybody know what we end up doing for rooms as I'm sure we aren't the only group with oddities regarding HCA rooms.

I can confirm that homes 6322, 6323, and 4815 are the only GVs that either have an elevator or on the first floor. All three of these homes are H-cap accessible.

By doing a combo of a two bedroom and either a studio or one bedroom, this would definitely allow you more options for locations and non-hcap homes.
