OKW GV and Reservation Questions??

I'm coming up on the 11 month for my Dec, '06 OKW GV reservation. I have some questions:

For a Dec 16 to 23rd reservation should I do a day-by-day reservation? Would a day-by-day fax or e-reservation be adequate?

For a Dec 16 reservation should I call Jan 16 or Jan 17? The DVC website implies I should call on the 17th -- 11 months before the day of departure -- but I always thought it was 11 months before the day of check-in.

If it were me, I'd do day by day. December is popular for the OKW Grand Villas. If you're willing to risk the waitlist, one call would be OK. Personally, I would not do a fax or email reservation for a popular time - no one knows when MS might get around to working those.

The windows are from the desired check out day, so the earliest you could call for the night of 12/16/2006 wouls be 1/17/2006.
