Does anyone know if it is hard to get a OKW grand villa for the first week in June. OKW is not my home resort. Has anyone stayed in the grand villa there? As far as Grand villas are concerned, are you just best off to book for your home resort and assume the others would be taken by the time the seven month window opens up?

Hope this makes sense.

:laundy: the way the day is going :rotfl:

I've gotten a GV at OKW 3 separate times, 2 times in Jun (this past Jun) and once in Aug, I reserved usually 9 to 10 months earlier. I've never had a problem, now OKW has many GV's but the points make it an attractive option to any DVC member, so I think that it would be harder at the 7 month window. I don't want to pay the points for the other GV's so Ive never tried anywhere else at the 7 month window.

DS(11) would stay at an OKW GV every time, if possible, trust me you won't be disapointed!

Thanks for the reply beaslyboo. I actually decided to quick call and get the GV at AKV for our dates (which was available :woohoo:) and then attempt to change it to OKW at the 7 month window (OCT 31). I think this will work the best to ensure we have a GV and then attempt to spend fewer points. I am with you on the fewer points thing. There is a huge difference in cost of points.

Kind regards,

Jessica

I doubt it you'll have any trouble if you call at 7 months. OKW has a LOT of GVs and early June isn't a peak period.

The GVs at OKW are beautiful - I've had one a couple times, and there's lots of room to spread out. I had 6 people in mine, which to me is perfect. I wouldn't want 12 people sharing it, but that's just me.

I stayed in a GV in October of 2006. I made reservations at our home resort at the 11 month window and then wait listed for the OKW GV at 7 months. Oct tends to be a very busy time with the Food and Wine Festival. I got a call from MS about two months before our trip date and our reservation was moved to the GV. Stayed there with 7 adults and 5 kids and had plenty of room. I thought the GV was great. It had all of the ammenities expected and more than enough room for all us. Good Luck!!!

That is for sure my plan. We got our resie for AKV but I will call the first second I can to try to get into OKW. The point different is HUGE! Of course I understand that AKV are newer but I much prefer the lower points. That way we can stay longer. Thanks everybody to everyone who has responded. I do have one more question, is there a particular part of OKW that is nicer to stay in or is that not a issue?

thanks,

Jessica

The whole resort is lush and green w/ landscaping. Personally, I've never made any requests about location in the past. It all depends on what's important to you. In Jun we had # 1523, it's in the front of the resort, I originally thought maybe the street noise would be an issue but it wasn't. It was quite close to HH and the pool, Olivia's etc. Personally I prefer to stay deeper in the resort w/ a quiet pool close by.

#1523 had a view of the golf course seperated by water and a fountain, it was quite lovely. The only noticable issue was the wood floors, they needed refinishing, other than that it was in wonderful condition.:goodvibes
